UPDATE: I spoke with Jonathon, the manager, and he was pleasant, personable, and willing to hear our frustrations. I’m hopeful he’ll get things fixed. We’ll have to come back and hopefully have a better interaction with the day staff. The property itself is good, with clean rooms and a clean lobby. Breakfast was okay, what you’d expect from a free breakfast. Chino and Ally at the desk are personable and really good at their jobs. Our trouble was with Destiny and Holly. They were cold, rude, and condescending. We arrived in Minot around 1:30 p.m. and stopped to check in. Destiny sharply told us the hotel was sold out, no rooms were clean, and to come back after 3 p.m., the usual check-in time. As someone who used to work at a front desk, I understand that, though it was hard to believe not one room was clean an hour and a bit before check-in. The next morning, because of a snowstorm, we asked about extending our stay. Destiny said, “No, we are sold out!” Only when we questioned her did she explain that just our room type was sold out. It felt combative, as if she didn’t want us there, and made us wonder if we should change hotels. We’d booked a jacuzzi room because of the storm. We went down in the morning to ask Holly about switching rooms early because we didn’t want another interaction with Destiny. Holly was rude too. The service didn’t feel professional. If they can’t deal with people, they probably shouldn’t be in customer service. I don’t even want to stay the night, but the room is nonrefundable.

If you like sleeping in dirty beds, stay here. Apparently they make the beds without taking the sheets off first, because I rolled over and stretched in the middle of the night and found a pair of dirty socks with my feet. They weren’t ours. And management still thinks we should pay full price since we slept in the room all night.

There were holes and rips all over my blanket, and the air conditioner had sticky stuff on it. My room felt pretty gross, and I was uncomfortable during the stay. There were hairs in the shower, holes in the curtains, and the phone wasn’t connected to the wall or plugged in. I wasn’t happy with the room.

We booked the hotel airport transfer before leaving Australia because we’d be arriving late. On the morning we arrived in the US, we called to confirm. They said the original booking hadn’t made it into their system, but told us not to worry because they’d come pick us up. At the airport, nobody from the hotel was there. When we called, we were told there was no transfer booking and the driver had gone home. They said we’d have to find our own way, with no apology. When I said I was unhappy with that answer, the receptionist said they’d call the manager. I asked them to call me back, but no call came. We rang again after some time and were told the receptionist couldn’t reach anyone. I asked why they hadn’t called as requested, and they hung up on me. We’d tried Uber and taxis in Minot late at night before without success, which is why we booked the hotel transfer. Another traveler eventually told us about a different rideshare service. When we arrived at the hotel, staff greeted us with a smirk, possibly because I’d been direct when asking how they planned to resolve things. At checkout the next morning, another staff member smirked at us too. The room itself was as advertised. If you book here, don’t rely on their airport transfer, and expect indifferent service.
