Comfort Inn & Suites Mishawaka - South Bend

The security bar on our door was missing the part that attaches to it, and there was a rodent trap by the side entrance. The windows were broken, needles and drug paraphernalia were in the parking lot, and the elevator was out. Other reviews suggest it’s been broken for a while. During two or three interactions, the desk worker kept talking through his earbuds the whole time. Too bad Choice hotels doesn’t keep an eye on its franchises. I won’t book with Choice again. Conveniently, the photos wouldn’t upload, even after two tries.

We spent two nights here with our kids, and getting around was already a hassle because every elevator was out, so we had to haul our things up the stairs. Our first room on the second floor smelled awful. The next one, right next door, smelled of cigarettes, and at night I saw a cockroach run along the TV stand. The desk said there had been no reports of roaches. When I moved the stand to look for it, I found several dead ones behind it and by the small fridge. The desk worker came to see and confirmed they were there, saying they were dead because they had sprayed disinfectant. I asked to move again, but was told no rooms were available. I requested a refund and was told to wait until management arrived in the morning. We ended up back in the smelly room next door. They changed our room the next day but wouldn’t compensate us for that first awful night. The place is run-down, smelly, and disgusting.

We found bedbugs in one bed and several roach-like bugs in the bathroom. The hallway carpets were dirty, the walls had badly chipped paint, and the towels smelled strange. By 8:30 the breakfast was nearly gone; the eggs left were cold and the cream cheese was spoiled. The front desk staff were pleasant at check-in, but the morning staff were hard to approach. I’ll never stay at a Comfort Inn again.

The hotel reeked of drugs, not weed. In our sketchy room, I sat on the bed and the sheet shifted, exposing blood on the sheet underneath. They gave us a different room, but when we opened the door it was trashed and looked like people had been using drugs in there. The front desk guy was sweating heavily, and I thought he might be coming down from something. DO NOT STAY HERE.
