The staff were super friendly, helped with food recommendations, and made us feel welcome. The location was great too, close to lots of local restaurants though not quite walkable, and a short drive from parks and trailheads. The rooms had a distinctive layout and handy touches for sorting and storing gear. There was an outdoor fireplace, pool, and hot tub, plus a café-style breakfast area where you could buy snacks or full meals. The storefront sold commonly forgotten gear and basic first aid supplies. A really great hotel.

For what we paid in February, this was a great value, and the location right by town was handy. The rooms have been updated with a clean, sporty modern look, plus a fridge you can actually use. The heat and AC worked well. Beds could be more comfortable, and hallway noise came through the doors, but I still slept fine. There’s a heated pool and hot tub outside, with plenty of places to sit around the fire pits. Inside, the lobby has snacks, food, alcoholic drinks, coffee, and a water refill station. There’s also a separate lounge with lots of chairs and ping pong.

The lobby was the standout for me, especially the furniture, the shop with outdoor gear, and surprisingly good coffee. The fire pits outside looked cute, though we were too wiped out after hiking to use them. Our room had a fun, youthful outdoor-adventure style, lots of storage, a great shower, a roomy sink, and really comfortable beds. The property seems to be an updated old roadside motel, which was fine, but the hallways and shared spaces apart from the lobby weren’t especially nice.

We ended up extending our stay and came back again, which says a lot about how much we enjoyed it. The staff and manager made our first Moab visit feel magical. On our first night, we’d booked only because of a good deal and weren’t planning to stay longer, but Josh at the front desk quietly gave us keys to a double suite. No fuss, just a kindness we won’t forget. Service was low-key, heartfelt, and excellent. The building itself is an aging motel, but the thought, craftsmanship, and taste put into the lobby and rooms were astonishing. The minimalist design was phenomenal, even if the climbing hardware and mountain-bike decor leaned pretty hard into the glamping theme. If that bougie outdoors style isn’t your thing, bring some patience, then settle in and enjoy the place. This kind of motel retrofit doesn’t always work, but this one really did. Congrats to the original Field Station / Autocamp team who put it together. It’s since been bought by Hilton, which now manages Slackline with many of the original staff, if I’m remembering right. I almost hesitate to review it, since I’d hate for reservations to get harder, but they deserve the praise, and I hope another five-star review helps someone appreciate it too.
