Economy Inn

I'm a veteran, and the VA paid for my stay. One housekeeper was amazing and went well beyond what she needed to do. Shout out to SILVIA!! Front desk management wasn't the most approachable or friendly, but they did let my service dog stay with me, which was really awesome since they apparently don't allow dogs, service animals, or support animals of any kind. I don't know the prices. There wasn't much riffraff, and as long as you follow the rules, it was all gravy. I did have to clean my room again. The non-smoking rooms are really nice, but you can't have a service animal in them at all.

We were unloading our belongings when a man called the room and yelled at us for having guests. It was just one person helping us carry our things. We said we'd leave and asked for our money back. He agreed, but at the window he refused and told us to return the next day after he'd checked the room. We explained we couldn't afford another room if he kept our money, and he said it wasn't his problem. We filed a police report and came back the next day. He still wouldn't refund us and said we could take him to court. I'll never stay there again or recommend it to anyone. They need to be shut down.

The manager and staff are rude and get angry when you ask for things like fresh linens or toilet tissue. If someone pulls in just to pick you up, the manager interrogates the driver and demands they leave. Then they come yell at you about no visitors, interrupt when you try to explain, and walk off rudely while threatening to kick you out and keep your deposit. They say they can do it and there's nothing you can do. So disappointing.

The owner is rude, argumentative, and dishonest. He kept our money when we checked out after the first of two paid nights, even though we left within checkout time. We had paid in cash in advance for both nights, plus an extra $60 “deposit” on top of an already inflated rate, and he wouldn't give us receipts. When we said we might call the police over the money, he replied, “Call the president of the USA for all I care.” He also has a strange rule that you can't check out until he gets up and opens the office at 10am or later, so an early flight or an 8am business meeting isn't possible. He's at the motel 24/7. This was the most awful motel stay of our lives, at Economy Inn in Modesto, CA. He's lost our long-term business, and hopefully other customers will stay away after reading this.
