Aerospace Inn

A solid choice for either a quick stop or a longer stay. The pool area was great, and the service was too. 10/10.

The trains are hard to ignore here. They pass across the road about every 20 minutes, and each one shook the bed through the night. They didn't all sound their horns much, but between that and the room, I wouldn't stay in Mohave again if I had a choice. Most motels seem to be on the same stretch by the tracks, so maybe they're all noisy, but surely some are cleaner, cooler, or more comfortable than Aerospace Inn. The heat was the worst part of our late September arrival. It was still 90 F outside, and the upper balcony felt like an oven, well over 110 degrees by our door, because the air conditioner exhaust blew heat into the partly enclosed walkway. Our assigned room had been shut up without air conditioning and felt around 130 degrees. Its unit was very loud, and only worked on low fan, so it took hours to become barely bearable. I got dizzy, vomited, and was soaked in sweat. I spent hours outside trying to cool down, but the exhaust made it impossible to sit near the building. The pool at least gave me a way to lower my temperature and avoid going to the ER for what felt like heat stroke caused by the hotel. The pool and deck were clean, but the large grab bar for getting in and out had broken off at the base. The jagged metal and unstable bar seemed dangerous. The room itself was filthy. I lifted the mattress to look for bedbugs and found the box spring caked with food, dirt, and hair. I saw no definite bugs, but the blood splatters kept me worried all night. Long black hairs were woven into every pillow, sheet, blanket, and the rough little towels. There were stains all over the carpet and walls, and the microwave was caked with dried food. The mini-fridge door wouldn't seal because its hinges were bent, and the furniture was old and battered. The bed was stiff as a board, with two small, lumpy pillows. I had brought my own bedding and piled it up just to lie down, but still slept very little. The bathroom looked newly remodeled, but was as dirty as the rest. The toilet base and floor behind it were sticky and stank of urine, with black dust and puddles. The underside of the seat had old feces splattered on it. The sink drain smelled so strongly of sewage that I worried it would back up and questioned whether the water was safe. I wouldn't give it even one star if the pool hadn't helped me cool off. I can't recommend this motel.

For $65 plus tax, I got a large double room through Booking dot com, with a table and chairs, fridge, single-cup coffee maker, and a 42-inch flat screen with direct tv. The shower was basic but clean, and I saw no bugs. For that price, it wasn't bad.

I should've slept in my car. The chairs were filthy, the door had greasy handprints, and so did the walls. The sink wasn't clean and the shower curtain looked like a dollar-store one. The room looked nothing like the Google Maps pictures. Just gross, and nowhere near worth $75.
