The kids had plenty to enjoy nearby, from game shops and sushi to an indoor go-kart track, with loads of restaurants close by. The hotel is right by a huge mall, just a two-minute walk across the parking lot, and the kids liked the pool. Staff were pleasant, the cookies were delicious, and the main manager gave the kids free ice cream sandwiches once. The restaurant was open, but with so many other places around, we didn't eat there. I was nervous after reading all the Google reviews before our sports tournament, and the building does look its age. Hallways, elevators, and rooms show wear. Our room was fine and mostly clean, though there was some mold in the shower corners and the ironing board was broken. The beds were very comfortable. The AC was loud, but it worked perfectly all four days and sounded like white noise to me. My main issue is the price for an older property. I'd be comfortable paying around $90 a night, or up to $100, but not more. There are newer hotels nearby. At a lower rate, I'd happily stay again, and with a bit more updating I'd rate it higher. A hotel engineer who had just fixed a toilet told me Hilton had major renovations planned and they were doing their best. He was a nice guy. Hotel: 3 stars. Staff: 5 stars.

Check-in was easy and fast, and the location worked well for shopping, restaurants, and local events. The beds were worn but still comfortable, with clean sheets. That's about where the positives end for me. My family had four rooms, and the whole place felt filthy and badly outdated. The floors in the halls were uneven and the carpet bunched up, making it especially hard for my mom to get around with her walker and cane. The elevators were small, noisy, and felt scary. There was no fridge or microwave in my room, and the deadbolt was missing altogether. The curtains, AC/heater, phones, lampshades, and chairs were all discolored grey or brown, like they might once have been in a smoking hotel. Carpets and bathrooms were dirty. Most of us skipped showering because of the condition and the shower curtains. I bought cleaning supplies at CVS and wiped down the sinks, toilets, handles, and buttons on the remotes and lamps so we could sleep more comfortably. I didn't use the amenities, so I can't speak to them. But this was the first hotel I've stayed at without accessible items like shower chairs or toilet risers. I've even seen hotels provide walkers in the room, so it was sad to find nothing here. There were no accessible rooms with more than one bed. The front desk offered one with a bed and sofa bed, but after seeing the rooms, I was scared to pull a bed out of a filthy-looking sofa in a dirty room. Who knows what might crawl out? On top of all that, I never got points for the two rooms I booked and paid for through Hilton Honors. I'll never stay here again or recommend it to anyone I know.

I was really disappointed. The outside looked so run down it could have been in a horror movie, and the room didn't meet the standards I expect when I book with Hilton. There was a ring of mold around the bathtub, and the hand soap was actually a huge Dove body wash bar. The furniture was torn up, including a big hole in the couch with stuffing coming out. The carpet was dingy and rippled, and the AC unit looked like it was falling apart. There was no microwave or fridge in the room. The stay itself was fine, but this place badly needs maintenance and upgrades.

If all you need is a bed after a one-night party, conference, or meeting, this place can work. For a longer stay, I'd look elsewhere. The rooms are spacious and clean, the heat and AC worked well, the water was hot, and parking was decent. It's centrally located in Monroeville, PA, about a mile from the highway and turnpike. The staff were the best part, and conference rooms were a plus. After we had a bad experience, the manager met with us and gave us fair compensation. Still, the rooms haven't been updated in decades, and finding somewhere to plug things in was a challenge. The business center is just a closet, much of the gym equipment was broken, the hot tub was closed, and the pool looked swampy. The restaurant and bar were shut, except for a lackluster $16 breakfast buffet. Rooms have no fridge or microwave, so expect to eat out and throw away leftovers. You get two complimentary water bottles, then Dasani at the desk costs $3. Of three elevators, only one worked for most of our stay. If you use a wheelchair, choose another hotel.

They put me on the top floor, the 15th, marked PH on the elevator, and I got a large room with a vaulted ceiling. I was only there one night for a meeting, so the moldy caulking and dirty air vent didn't bother me much. The location is nice, check-in was friendly, and I got a warm cookie. The room really needs renovation. This place has potential, and I want to like it, but that bathroom makes it hard to rate higher. I know hotels are still recovering from pandemic losses, so I hope they start looking at renovations soon.
