Montauk Blue Hotel

In July 2025, I stayed at Montauk Blue Hotel and had one of the most upsetting guest experiences I’ve had. On the first night, I found that the king mattress was wet inside. I reported it right away and asked staff to inspect it. They replaced the mattress, but management’s later handling of the issue felt deeply unfair. In follow-up letters, management suggested that I or my family had caused the problem, which isn’t true. Their written account also included factual errors: it misidentified who was in the bed, ignored that the room had enough light, and said they personally inspected the room before I arrived, something nobody mentioned at the time. At checkout I tried to defend myself. I was crying and upset, but I wasn’t abusive. The hotel called the police to escort me out, humiliating me and my family. I only asked for an apology to clear my name, not money. Management refused to discuss it further, so I filed a formal complaint. I can’t recommend the hotel after being treated this way as a paying guest. I didn’t receive the honesty, respect, or fairness travelers deserve.

The rooms are basic, but they’re always spotless, and any problem gets help at your door within moments. What amazes me most is how carefully they keep everything clean and sanitized. They dust and clean the beach chairs and umbrellas every day, and the deck is being scrubbed spotless as I write this. They even spray to sanitize daily. You won’t find this kind of cleanliness at Gurneys, which costs ten times as much. The beach and ocean are right outside, and I leave my door open at night to fall asleep to the waves and wake up to a beautiful sunrise. The location is the best in Montauk, and the price is right, so I come twice a year. Staff are all friendly, polite, respectful, and helpful. They provide high-quality chairs, umbrellas, and lovely towels, plus an indoor jacuzzi and pool that can’t be beat. This place feels like a slice of heaven. Once you’ve come, you won’t want to go anywhere else.

We paid over $600 a night on average, including taxes and fees, and I’m not sure that was worth it or that I’d return. There’s no food, restaurant, bar, or snack bar on site, and it’s a motel charging hotel prices. The outdoor balcony carpets are very dirty and need to go. The location is hard to beat: right on the beach, with private balconies and an easy walk to town, restaurants, and shops. They provide beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels, which is handy. The rooms were decent, a little updated, and kept clean.

The staff were warm and professional, and the food was delicious, beautifully presented, and offered options for different dietary preferences. There’s a beachfront restaurant serving fresh seafood and local flavors, along with an infinity pool facing the beach and a well-kept spa. The rooms are spacious and cozy, with comfortable beds, elegant furnishings, and private balconies for morning coffee or sunset. Some look out to the sea, others over a peaceful garden. Large windows frame lovely ocean and greenery views, and the modern design has natural charm. Right by the shining shoreline, the sea breeze and sound of waves made for a relaxing arrival.
