Sandhill Inn & Suites

The staff really stood out. Everyone was helpful and smiling, and the housekeeper even remembered which coffee we liked and brought it back for us. The rooms were very clean and practical, with a Keurig and pods, a comfortable, clean bed, and a bathroom stocked with towels and kept immaculate. The hotel has a modern feel, and the lobby and breakfast area are beautiful. The location is great too, within walking distance of most restaurants and close to Great Sand Dunes National Park. For two adults staying three nights, we paid less than $300, which felt like a steal. We'll be back, and a lot of hotels could learn something from this team's customer service.

There were plenty of parking spaces, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tub were open, and having a coffee maker in the room was nice. The continental breakfast was pretty good. The room smelled a little musty, but a candle and some Febreze took care of it. My main issue was the confusion over the pet policy. I called specifically to request a pet-friendly room and paid the pet fees for every day. After check-in, I was told our room wasn't pet-friendly and that I couldn't leave my dog alone even in a pet-friendly room. We were in town for a funeral and obviously couldn't bring him along. They eventually let me leave him in the room during the services, but I wish they'd disclosed that rule when booking. I would've booked somewhere else. Aside from that, it was a very nice stay and definitely the nicest hotel I've stayed at in Monte Vista.

We needed an affordable place near Adam State University, and this little inn worked out well. The room was clean, and the staff were pleasant and accommodating. The three of us, my husband, our son, and me, were comfortable in a double room. It came with a fridge and microwave, and free breakfast and wifi were available. We could see that the property had been updated. This will be our go-to hotel when we visit our son on campus. Thanks, Sandhill Inn & Suites, for making the stay great.

The place was smaller, but comfortable and within our budget, with everything we expected. Both staff members we met during our one-night stay were great. It was clean and didn't have the strong chemical smell I've sometimes noticed in higher-end hotels, which I appreciate as a parent traveling with two young kids.
