We arrived at 1 a.m. on 9/13/25, and the young man who checked us in was awesome. The bed was really comfortable, and breakfast was very good. I’d stay again. We were in room 117, the handicap room, because I’d broken my left ankle and right foot. The only downside was that there wasn’t a shower chair.

The neighborhood feels rough, and the room was musty, with a stinky carpet. It’s VERY VERY dated, and the bed is right against the AC unit. The hair dryer had been ripped off the wall and the bathroom door handle was broken off. The shower metal was rusted too. It was horrible. I would NEVER stay again or recommend it.

The area felt scary, and I couldn’t believe how low class this Wingate seemed. The hotel is dated, the room was musty, and the carpet had stains all over. There were no bed bug covers on the mattresses and no USB ports. Bathroom fixtures were rusty, and breakfast was bad. The waffle maker was so old we couldn’t get the waffles off the griddle. This place should be condemned. Don’t go, it’s horrible.

Some parts of this odd hotel have been renovated, but the work isn’t always well done. The new hollow-core doors inside the rooms were misaligned, and the bathroom door wouldn’t latch. Bleach stains ran along the hallway carpet.

The staff are kind, everything is clean and well kept, and the little details make this modest-looking motel excellent. There’s a comfortable chair, plenty of good light for reading in bed, and outlets in all sorts of handy spots for chargers, laptops, and hearing aids. Mirrors are where you need them, with an outlet nearby for a hairdryer. There’s even a light over the coffee maker, plus a microwave and fridge. The towels are big and plush, and the shower has a grip bar. Behind the motel, there’s a pond with chairs, picnic tables, and barbecue grills. On the other side is a street with endless strip malls. The breakfast is pedestrian, but it’s available in a restful dining area. There’s also a small shop with snacks and microwaveable food, along with a decent exercise room. I’ve stayed in hotels for many years, and these are the little things that make a difference. Bravo!
