The beds were really comfortable, and the bathrooms are private, clean, and modern. There are some lovely touches here, especially the charming library, plus a business “center” and a “theater.” Guests can use a large shared fridge in the dining room. The place is adorable and definitely unique. The town is handy for several tourist attractions, too. There's a serious staff shortage in the area, so a proper bed-and-breakfast breakfast isn't really feasible, but they do have coffee and snacks. The nearby restaurants are short-staffed as well.

The worn carpet, poor upkeep, and allergens made this a stay we won't repeat unless the place gets cleaned and updated. My husband and I both woke up congested. The bathroom was very slanted, enough for my rolling suitcase to roll into the low spot, and it had several gross areas. The pink carpet was worn and dirty, the bunk room light didn't work and had questionable wiring, and our bedspread had old blood stains. They'd replaced the bathroom fan but left a large hole from the old heater. We arrived at 9 pm for our first BnB stay and didn't know where to go or what to do. The key was on the table, and you're expected to help yourself. We also asked about the restaurant and were told it had just closed, even though the door sign said 10 pm. We only wanted dessert. We were looking for something different from a hotel, and the mill idea is cute and has a fun theme. The mattress was comfortable, there was plenty of bedding and extra pillows, the rooms were large, and the bathrooms were private. We did get a decent night's sleep.

The self check-in wasn't a problem, but there won't be anyone there to greet you. The keys are clipped to a board, with printed directions to the room. The room can get quite hot with just one window AC, and its running noise may bother you at night. The carpet on the stairs is very worn, and the clawfoot tub, though nice looking, could be a trip hazard if you're not careful. Still, staying at Great Mill felt like going back in time. We had a top-floor room with an attached bathroom for a couple of nights. We liked the decor, found both the room and bathroom very clean, and thought the people seemed very nice. It was a nice stay, and we'd come back if we're in the area.

We were impressed by how clean the room was, and it felt cozy and welcoming. The check-in directions were easy to follow even though we arrived late. Everyone on staff we met was kind and helpful, and there were lots of little details that seemed thoughtfully handled. The beds were comfortable and the Wi-Fi was very fast. We're looking forward to staying again.

The restaurant was the only good part. I expected something amazing for $330 after reading the reviews, but our room had mouse droppings along the edges, bugs crawling up the walls, and a dirty shower and tub. The sheets were heavily stained, if not dirty. We asked for clean ones and changed them ourselves. There was nowhere else for us to go, so we stayed, but didn't sleep: a mouse chewed in the walls all night, and we had to bang on them to make it stop.
