Monticello Inn

The location was handy, with lots of stores and restaurants nearby, and I could park right outside my room. I also appreciated the in-room folder listing nearby restaurants, TV channels, things to do, and other information. There’s no breakfast included. My room was okay for one night at a reasonable price, but the bed felt like one from the 1980s and I found a couple of dead insects. The front desk greeting wasn’t friendly, and having to provide all my driver’s license information felt unusual. The TV had plenty of channels and worked well. The old AC also worked, though it was very loud. The WiFi was extremely weak, and it was hard to find the network name. Even after I entered the password, the signal barely worked. Getting the shower to a comfortable temperature took some experimenting, since the handle had to be turned just right and the water swung between too hot and kind of cold.

The room smelled like an old basement, and the shower was cold with hardly any pressure. Staff said the internet only works outside the door, not in the rooms. Wish I could give it zero stars.

I needed a room in a pinch for one night, and they checked me in quickly. It was an older room, but clean and a great price, with a comfortable bed and a nice TV with cable. The heater worked well, so I didn’t need the extra clean blankets folded in the dresser. The guest services binder was a little outdated, but not too bad. There were towels, washcloths, and a couple of sample soap bars, but no shampoo, conditioner, or hair dryer. There was a small microwave, but no fridge, coffee maker, or anything like that. The clothing rack had three hangers that couldn’t be removed.

The location was convenient, close to Walmart, and the pool was cleaned every day. Housekeepers were kind, and the manager went out of their way to help us get a ride to the Greyhound station.
