We left a day early just to get some peace. The walls seemed thinner than tissue paper, with doors slamming and people running in the hall, even though we only saw about three other guests. Breakfast was green ham, potatoes, dehydrated eggs, cold cereal with no milk, and old bread. The room was tiny, the shower small and outdated, and the parking lot felt dodgy and poorly lit away from the main entrance. We spent a little time in the lobby to get out of the room, but felt unwelcome and went back. I wouldn't recommend this for families with kids. The owners seem to have chosen the cheapest option for every amenity, and it feels like a self-service hotel. I asked for a room turn-down without knowing about their "low par housekeeping in exchange for additional amenities" policy, which is odd since there aren't other amenities. For the same price as a decent hotel, communication and hospitality were scarce. Each time I went to the front desk, I felt like a burden. I regret not staying at the Fairfield.

We stayed for two nights while visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, and we'd happily return. The staff were incredibly friendly and breakfast was great. The room looked recently renovated, as did the rest of the hotel, which was a nice surprise because the online photos made the furnishings look old.

I've stayed in more than 200 hotels around the world and over 30 in the US, ranging from three to five stars. This is among the top three I've experienced in the US, and one of the best anywhere. The sanitation standards were top-level throughout, and it was worth every penny. If I'm caught in another winter storm, I'll come back without hesitation. Thank you.

The beds were comfortable, the staff friendly, and the food and coffee were good. It's a solid hotel option in montrose. I wasn't keen on having no microwave in the room and just one shared one in the lobby. The gym was a bit disappointing because it lacked heavier weights, and the Canadian bacon at breakfast was really bland. Aside from those things, a solid stay.
