The rooms have a slight old or musty smell. I’m not saying the hotel is bad, and I do think it has potential, but it needs better customer service and a bit more attention to details to make the experience much better. It’s clearly an older hotel that’s been remodeled several times, and it’s okay overall. The biggest issue for me was the front desk. The staff didn’t seem very warm or empathetic. At check-in there wasn’t the friendliness, smile, or courtesy I’d normally expect. I’ve stayed other places where you’re greeted kindly and made to feel welcome. Here it felt colder, like they were just doing their job because they had to.

Breakfast is a real highlight. The buffet has fresh fruit, good yogurt, and hot omelets made to order, far better than typical hotel fare. Yessenia’s service there is always attentive and exceptional. There’s even a legit Starbucks inside the hotel. After work, Thon at the bar gives great service and is an awesome bartender. I keep returning to the DoubleTree Galleria in Dallas for business. As a Diamond Member, I often get upgraded, usually to a nicely updated executive-level room on the 9th or 10th floor. The complimentary shuttle quickly takes you anywhere within three miles, including Galleria Mall and the dining and shopping in Addison. Jonnie and Robert are professional and incredibly friendly, and make trips to meetings or dinner easy. There’s plenty of parking and easy access to major roads, so check-in and check-out are stress-free. The architecture is a nice touch, but it’s the efficient service and standout staff that make this my top choice in the area. The problem wasn’t how many cookies we got. If only two were available, a polite explanation would have been fine. It was Allen’s tone and unnecessary attitude that left a bad impression at the end of our stay. As paying guests, we expected basic courtesy and professionalism over something that’s a well-known part of the DoubleTree experience. Hospitality should mean patience and kindness, even on a stressful day. My children had been looking forward to DoubleTree’s signature warm cookies. When we checked out, I politely asked Allen if they could have one. He gave us two but seemed irritated that we’d even asked. I mentioned there were more than two children with us, which he could clearly see. Instead of just explaining that he didn’t have more, he said, “Well they are just going to have to share because I don’t have anymore.”

The restaurant and bar food and drinks were superb, and there were lots of stores and restaurants within walking distance. I stayed four days, and everything was perfect. The rooms were VERY CLEAN, and the location is fantastic. One of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. This will be my go-to place whenever I’m staying in Dallas.
