Rodeway Inn at Morro Bay

This was a backup booking after a power outage at the hotel we'd planned to stay at. We should've gone with a place in Morro Bay that we know from our frequent visits. We wanted a pool soak, but the health department had locked the pool over a ladder issue. Live and learn. The room seemed clean on the surface, not deeply cleaned. The bed was only somewhat comfortable, the shower adequate, and the place was definitely no-frills. Breakfast wasn't worth trying: stale muffins, Kirkland hard boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, and bad lukewarm coffee. The front desk guy was friendly, but got over chatty about some things. TMI 🤦‍♂️ We love Morro Bay, just not this spot.

The room was a good size, the bed nice and firm, and the shower had good pressure. The air conditioner worked well, and it was very quiet at night. There's a nice pool out front. The only thing I'd change is to have spaces where people can park while checking in.

The front desk clerk gave us a great dinner recommendation and all the information we needed. I loved the room and slept so comfortably. We enjoyed the heated pool, good coffee, and breakfast in the morning, plus that great view. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The rooms are a little small, but parking right outside your door and not having anyone above you are nice trade-offs. Parking is easy even with a trailer, and the highway is close without bringing highway noise. It's a handy traveler's hotel. We could walk to Spencer's grocery store and use the room fridge, which has no freezer but was good for leftovers, and the microwave to pick up milk or frozen veggies and save some money on meals. Check-in staff were helpful with our Choice Hotels membership. We were short on towels, but management brought us what we needed straight away. Nice service. Thanks to the Choice Hotel Group and the Rodeway staff, our coast trip turned out very well.
