The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the place has a relaxed vibe. There's a cute coffee shop, a small pool with a sand and beach area for kids, lounge and beach chairs, and a grassy courtyard where people lay out blankets in the sun. The location is great for a beach trip, close to tourist shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, local stores, and fast food. We love Morro Bay. I booked through a travel app and expected a little kitchenette and sitting area from the photos. Instead, my adult daughter and I walked into a very, very small queen "studio" and looked at each other and laughed. The room pictures were deceiving. You're paying for the location, not the room or amenities. It's okay if you just need somewhere to sleep near the beach and activities. It didn't spoil our vacation, it was an adventure, but I was disappointed with the motel. The smells were the biggest problem: the bathroom smelled fishy and the room like an old basement. The sheets were clean but felt damp, the mattress was awful, and we slept terribly. The next morning we could barely get out of bed, and I had a kink in my neck. Parking is limited. We returned around 11 pm and had to park two blocks away. I didn't feel unsafe walking back with my daughter, but it was very dark and I stayed hyper vigilant. I'd go back if they replaced the beds and got rid of the smells.

We knew this was a reasonably priced off-season hotel, and it delivered what we expected. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the appliances and fixtures worked, and there were no surprises about what we were paying for. Some things weren't the most up to date, but that was fine with us. The five stars reflect that, not a claim that it's a "5 star" hotel.

The check-in went smoothly, and I was pleased with the room I got. It didn't look out over the parking lot, which I appreciated. The remodeling was done very well, it had everything I needed, and it was good value for the price. I could hear conversations and snoring during all three nights because the soundproofing wasn't good. The toiletries provided were very low quality, so I wish I'd brought my own. The mattress was very soft and gave me some back pain.

Staff gave us useful tips about town and provided great service. The room was spacious and clean, and the bay window was a lovely spot for breakfast with a sea view. My only complaints: the bathroom window beside the stairway had no curtains, and there was no vent in the bathroom.
