Kimball Terrace Inn Northeast Harbor

The location was fine, with a couple of restaurants in walking distance, but the inn sits uphill from the marina, which was barely visible from our room. The bigger problem was getting any rest over our three nights. The mattress was so hard that my back hurt, and the walls were thin enough that we could hear both nearby rooms. One sounded like a gathering, with people laughing and talking until 3am one night. Upstairs, heavy footsteps went on all night, every night. If you're here to hike, you want to be rested and pain free. The place needs major updates and soundproofing to justify the price.

We loved the quiet mornings and evenings at this out of the way spot, though Bar Harbor's busy area is about a 30 minute drive. Our room was clean, with fresh sheets and towels each day, and the harbor view from the room and small private patio was fabulous. The beds were okay, and when I asked for an extra pillow, they brought one. There's a fabulous restaurant next door where we ate several meals. This isn't the place if you need a modern inn. There was no microwave or coffee in the room, though both were available in the lobby. Take a taxi to nearby Cranberry Island.

For our late September 2025 visit to Acadia National Park, we stayed here 2-1/2 days and 3 nights. It's a basic, clean, convenient hotel with comfortable beds and great harbor views, and the value is hard to beat compared with places in Bar Harbor. We were glad we chose Northeast Harbor, since we'd planned to ride 30+ miles of carriage roads in ANP. Island Bike Rental was a 10 minute walk away, then it was a mile ride from the shop to the trails. The restaurant next door also serves a great breakfast.

The room was comfortable, and the beds are firm. It's a quiet area with a very good restaurant attached, and the location deserves 6 stars. Very good coffee is available at the office, along with a good assortment of medicines. Plenty of tee-shirts and hoodies, too!
