Baymont Inn & Suites Mount Vernon Renfro Valley

Even with the place busy over 4th of July weekend, everyone on staff was welcoming from the moment we came in until we left. The place was clean and nice, and the included breakfast had something for everyone with plenty of room in the eating area. It’s a hidden gem at these prices. I’ve recommended it to others and would happily stay again.

The room was clean, including the corners and behind the waste bins, and the front desk staff were exceptionally helpful. We’d driven 14 hours back from Florida with our three kids, aged 1, 3, and 5, and couldn’t find a hotel after learning there was a big concert nearby. The place we’d planned to stay couldn’t accommodate our one-year-old. The front desk woman showed us rooms first, answered all our questions kindly, and brought us two day beds at no extra cost when we found the sofa bed didn’t work. We paid $140 for the only room we could find that fit two adults and three children, and it had a Jacuzzi. The rooms are dated but clean, and renovations are underway since Baymont Inn & Suites recently bought the place. Our room had a new flat-screen TV, but also a palm-sized melt mark on the carpet and wallpaper pulling away over a large patch beside the Jacuzzi, apparently from moisture. I didn’t see mold. The sinks and taps could use a cleaner that doesn’t leave water spots. Breakfast needs work too, so I’d avoid it for now. There was coffee but no decaf, hot water with tea and hot chocolate, milk, and a broken juice machine. Food included frozen sausage and egg rounds with microwave instructions, three kinds of single-serve cereal, basic grain products, tiny rock-hard muffins, Trix yogurt, and apples. The toasters weren’t plugged in properly because a folded table against the wall was pushing the plug out of the outlet. I had to move the table and plug it back in.

For an overnight stay, this place is mostly acceptable if the rates are low, but it wasn’t ideal for our business meeting. The conference room they gave us was just a hotel room with the bed removed, and its air conditioning didn’t work well.

A relaxed place with a nice pool and good breakfast. We ordered dinner from a local grill, and the portions were huge for what we paid to feed a family of four.
