Days Inn by Wyndham Mt. Vernon

The room was dirty, with a dirty shower, ants in the bathroom, and little black bugs crawling on the floor. In the hallway on the third floor, the ceiling was falling apart, and water was leaking from the roof despite no rain for a week. There was a bucket on the floor to catch it, and the walls looked like they had black mold. Outside, there were homeless people around the hotel and drug use in the parking lot. The outlets by the bed kept shorting out while we tried to charge phones. I tested four chargers in the same outlet, and each charged for five seconds, popped, then randomly started again two or three minutes later for a few seconds. Do not recommend. This place sucks.

Both front desk attendants were friendly, and breakfast was standard, with toast, cereal, apples, milk, and juice. The area felt sketchy, though. People were wandering through the empty field next door around 1am. The rooms were dirty, and the lamp’s top cap wasn’t secure, which seemed like a choking hazard for my toddler. The elevator also felt unsafe. Its doors closed on my stroller and my disabled mother’s walker, and I had to push the doors open so we could get in and out.

Never again. I travel often, and this bed was so saggy I woke up with back pain. I had to throw my pillow and comforter on the floor to finish the night. The floors were dirty everywhere, and the paint job inside was horrible. The lobby was beautiful, but the rest felt like an oversized motel six.

I felt uncomfortable the whole time, and the place has a pretty seedy vibe, with people living there. The advertised photos seem far from current, and there isn't actually a pool despite it being listed. The comforters were stained and gross, the mini fridge smelled like it hadn't been aired out in ages, and I could hear people using the toilet in the rooms next door. There was a plastic bag taped over the smoke detector and barely any lighting. I felt like I might catch something just by staying there. Easily the worst hotel I've ever been in.
