Anchor Inn

We visited in May 2023 and got an off-season price that made the stay reasonable for us, since we usually car camp. The kind owner helped make it a great visit. The photos seem accurate, though we didn’t see any of the dirt in those five-year-old pictures. It’s under new ownership, the rooms have been remodeled, and the place is much nicer than the very old reviews suggest. Prices change by season, and the motel may close in winter, so I’d call ahead during the deep cold off-season.

The bed was VERY comfortable, and the room was clean, with hot water and good shower pressure. It was basic, but had what we needed: shampoo and soap, microwave, freezer, fridge, and a little table with chairs. Internet worked fine, too. We arrived late without a reservation, and the new owner was kind and helpful. She let us look at the room before paying. They’ve done a lot of work fixing the place up. I can see why some other reviewers call the staff hardworking and friendly, but my room was filthy and cost me $80 for one night. The toilet bowl hadn’t even been wiped after the previous guests. The room smelled like a dead body, and the white towels weren’t even the same shade of white. Anchor Inn was lucky the review system wouldn’t let me give it zero stars.

After 12 hours of driving, the soft, comfortable bed was exactly what I needed. The rest of the room at Anchor Inn was a mess. There were bugs all over, ordinary flying ones, and the shower floor was wet with pubic hair on it. The sink had hair too, and the toilet still had remains from someone’s last use, even on the seat. The coffee maker still had coffee and a filter that looked like they’d been there since 2017. The AC was very loud and took hours to cool the room. There were questionable holes and cracks in the walls, roof, and even floor. The small TV wasn’t much use, and the outlet was behind the middle of the king bed, which was really inconvenient.
