Holiday Inn Express & Sts Murphysboro - Carbondale

Breakfast had a great range of food, and even my high-protein fitness guy was impressed. Our girls had a blast in the pool, and the staff had toothbrushes for them, so we didn't need to run to the store first thing in the morning. The woman who checked us in was so sweet. We had a really good stay, and I'd recommend this family-friendly hotel.

We were glad to have this place to stay while visiting family, and we'll be back. The rooms are beautifully designed, the employees are kind, and the whole place is kept very clean, with housekeeping regularly making the rounds. Breakfast was wonderful. Our favorites were the biscuits and gravy and cinnamon rolls. Best hotel I've stayed at in a while.

At checkout, Tristian at the front desk was amazing and sweet, and helped us get a refund. The rest of the stay was upsetting. We booked along with the other softball teams, but at Friday check-in, a woman I think was named “Katrina” was rude about the 10 o'clock quiet time, saying in front of our girls that they'd had problems with noisy softball girls before. Then our toilet didn't work. I called to report it, but it was never fixed during our three-day stay. Another rude woman said there were no other rooms and she didn't know what I expected them to do. The other two ladies could learn a lot from Tristian about customer service. We won't stay here again.

January 2026: My second stay was much better, and Rachel was outstanding, professional, and caring. I always stay here when I visit from Chicago. August 2025: I was disappointed with the stay for $220 a night. The rooms seemed dated and weren't cleaned thoroughly. In the first room, there was men's underwear beside the bed. At midnight we had to move, only to find opened chocolate candy lying beside the bed in the second room. Its phone didn't work, and sometimes no one answered during the day. There were no washcloths in the room, so we had to get them downstairs if housekeeping had left for the day. I just wanted to go home, though the drive was five hours. They compensated me, but after driving all day, dealing with all this was too much hassle. Rachel on the night shift and Trisha on days at the front desk were compassionate and professional about it. The fault was with housekeeping and their management. I hope the next stay is better. 😔
