The Merrill Hotel, Muscatine, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The view after the overnight snowfall was breathtaking, with fresh snow on the riverfront trees across the Mississippi on the Illinois side. We stayed in a King room overlooking the river. It was clean and nicely decorated, though the bathroom counter felt a bit small and the shower's half door let in a chill. We arrived Friday November 28, 2025, just before a major Midwest snowstorm. Getting to the main entrance was easy, and the lobby, dining area, and bar looked elegant with their Christmas tree and decorations. The staff were all so kind, and breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Parking was convenient, either in the garage if you got there early enough because spaces were limited, or in the plentiful outdoor lots. I've wanted to bring my wife here for a long time, and now that we finally made it, we both want to return. She's hard to please and has excellent taste in hotels, and she wants to stay in the Chairman Suite next time. The Merrill Hotel has my highest recommendation.

We stayed at the Merrill over Valentine’s Day weekend, and the quality across the hotel really impressed us. The place is stunning, and the indoor pool area may be the prettiest we've seen. Our room was comfortable and clean, the food was delicious, and everyone on staff was kind and gracious. My husband and I were just talking about our favorite hotels and realized we hadn't reviewed this one yet. We'd absolutely come back.

Right on the Mississippi River, this is a lovely, quaint, clean hotel. Everyone was friendly, and the breakfast was phenomenal. It's a Marriott too, so you know you're getting good quality.

From my questions before booking to the quick check-in and check-out, everything went smoothly. This is one of the cleanest, friendliest hotels I've stayed in. Kelsey at the front desk made the whole visit feel welcoming. She was there when I reserved, again just a few hours later for check-in, and the next day when I checked out. Not sure when she slept! Kara also took care of everything the wedding party needed. I'd recommend this place to anyone.
