Hampton Inn Muskegon

The kids liked the pool and hot tub, and everything else was perfectly adequate. Our room got unbelievably hot, though. It was 15 degrees outside and we still had to turn the heat off. The beds weren’t very comfortable.

We booked online for our trip to Musekgon, but when we arrived, the front desk told us someone had extended their stay and that affected our room. They moved us to a larger room at no extra cost. I’d consider coming back after the remodel, but I hope they take this feedback seriously. I might try the hotel again then, though Holiday Inn Express looks nicer and has better reviews. Our room didn’t seem well cleaned. I picked up what looked like dog hair, and both the shower and bathtub looked dirty. The bed was uncomfortable, and the pillows were the smallest I’ve ever seen. They went flat after fluffing, and when I asked for more on both nights, I was told they were out. Breakfast wasn’t great either. The sausage patties had been cooking too long and were hard, the potatoes lacked flavor, and the eggs were empty. It took about 20 minutes for them to refill the eggs. The banana and strawberry kiwi enhanced water was the best part. Please invest in more pillows for guests. I know this hotel brings in cash and can afford them.

The rooms were clean, and the location was handy for food and shopping. Lisa at the front desk was the highlight for us. When my granddaughter lost a tooth, she worried the tooth fairy wouldn’t visit a hotel. Lisa made her a special tooth pillow to put under her pillow, and that put her fears to rest. It felt like a very family-friendly, pet-friendly hotel.

The staff were great, and breakfast was great too, but I paid a premium expecting the solid Hampton Inn experience and got a Baymont experience. The dirty rooms were a problem, and in 2025, not having a pantry or market at a Hampton Inn is a deal breaker. This property is ready to be in the Wyndam or Choice portfolio.
