My husband and I went for our 10th anniversary in August, and the beautiful home made it a perfect way to celebrate. We stayed in the governors suite, which I highly recommend. There was a fridge stocked with drinks and snacks, and both the five-course dinner and breakfast were wonderful. I'm a little late writing this, but I've been thinking about how ready I am to go back!

The Governor's suite had everything we could ask for and more, and we enjoyed a great five-course prime rib dinner. In the morning, the Continental breakfast and coffee were enough to get the day started. It was a delight to stay here, and a nice getaway is easy to find here.

Jim Holder made our stay at Hayes House relaxing and rejuvenating. He's a gracious host, a great chef, and a very humble soul. The gourmet dinner and breakfast were both delicious. We'd highly recommend Jim’s Chateaubriand for dinner. Fantastic!

We especially recommend the Governor's Suite with the romance package. It has a small private porch with a swing for two. The B&B is beautiful, elegant, and comfortable, with an in-suite jacuzzi tub, robes, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and snacks and drinks provided. Breakfast was a scrumptious gourmet meal served with love.

The sheets were clean, but our room was dusty, the carpet hadn't been vacuumed, and some of the furniture looked so old we were afraid to sit on it. We had the larger of the two rooms. At breakfast the next morning, the lemon poppyseed muffins were very good, and there was a yogurt parfait and Sunnydelight O.J. The parfait had a pretty Impatien flower on top. I knew from gardening that the flower is toxic and can cause diarrhea and vomiting, though no one told us that. The host appeared for a couple of minutes, said he'd be leaving in about five minutes to help with his daughter's remodel, and asked us to put the orange juice in the refrigerator. Then he left. When we arrived, he greeted us and explained that we had a midweek discount, with a $5 charge per person for a full breakfast and a complimentary continental option. He said it was up to us and made no difference to him, so we chose continental. He'd also suggested that the extra $10 might get us very little. I came away thinking these owners, whom we'd never seen Mrs. of, may be tired of hosting after years running this B&B. If you don't want to host, don't. And don't try to poison your guests.
