The price worked well for us, and the room was clean and comfortable, with a firm double bed and really nice bedding. We were on the third floor, and the bathroom was tiny, without even enough space for a toothbrush. A little shelf would help. The lobby and shared areas are roomy and comfortable, and the B&B is lovely and spotless. Breakfast was pretty basic: pastries, fruit, packaged bread, muffins and bagels to toast, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, juice, and Keurig coffee. It’s an easy walk to downtown.

David was a thoughtful innkeeper and clearly cared about guests enjoying their stay. There were fresh citrus waters and baked goods each day, and our room was spotless with fresh decor. The porch and backyard are lovely places to sit, and give the inn a relaxed, homey feel. It’s also an easy walk to everything in town, while still being on a quieter street. We’d love to come back.

The loft itself was beautiful, but after our first visit in 2021, the inn has lost its appeal for us. We paid $1,000 a night and were given an envelope with a key, with no welcome from the innkeeper, who seemed pleasant but was rarely around. Breakfast used to include homemade granola or wonderful scones; now it’s store-bought pastries and a hard-boiled egg each morning. At this price, I’d expect the warm welcome and homemade touch that make an inn memorable. This feels like a hotel now, and we’d look elsewhere in Nantucket.

I’ve stayed in two different rooms here while working on Nantucket, and the beds were great. It’s a romantic, very nice 1803 inn, with renovated, clean bathrooms. Don’t expect a modern hotel, and there are no TVs. Breakfast was okay, nothing special but nothing bad, and coffee, water, and juice are available for free during the day. The manager was responsive and pleasant to talk with.

David was quick to respond and helped with all my questions. They also let me check out later to fit my ferry booking. The downstairs common area is lovely, newly styled and renovated, and the Martin Inn felt like a charming, cozy guest house. I came all the way from Australia and felt welcome and at home.
