We weren’t asking for a refund, just a credit to use after our friend recovered. She’d suffered a serious fall that required emergency surgery, made more complicated by a newly classified high-risk pregnancy, so we had to cancel. We contacted the hotel on Wednesday, the day she fell, Thursday, and twice on Friday, explained the situation, and offered medical documentation. The front desk staff were kind and seemed understanding, but said only the manager, Alicia, could decide about a credit. She never returned our calls or spoke with us. On check-in morning, another staff member said we could only rebook within the same month, even though we offered documentation that travel then wasn’t possible. We later learned management called our friend while she was in the hospital to verify what happened, and still offered no flexibility. They also didn’t tell us they had spoken to her. We understand small businesses have tight margins and cancellation policies exist for a reason, but this was handled without flexibility or empathy. Management’s response to an urgent medical situation felt deeply unprofessional and ethically inexcusable. We’ll return to Nantucket, but never to this hotel. Life happens, and future guests should know how little compassion we experienced during an unavoidable emergency.

The hotel offered to reschedule our babymoon within the next month after an accident put me in the hospital for emergency leg surgery and made my pregnancy high-risk. I’m currently unable to put weight on my leg for 6-8 weeks, and I may still be hospitalized or deliver early during the offered dates. We’d spent a significant amount to celebrate this milestone, and the accident happened just two days before our stay. There was no empathy, flexibility, or real concern for what we were facing. The cold, transactional response during such a vulnerable time was shocking. It’s disheartening to see so little compassion or basic human decency. Don’t book here. Find somewhere that treats guests like people, not dollar signs.

The staff were outstanding. Annie, Sam, Sarah, and Jillian were kind and helped us sort out computer problems, then arranged to have some of our belongings shipped home. We can’t thank them or recommend them enough. The room and location were great, and our stay at the Nantucket Resort Collection in Nantucket was wonderful. We wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else.

I didn’t sleep well at all during my time on the Island. My Chapman House room, the Chapman Queen, was small, and the walls were thin enough that I could hear conversations in bed, along with people stomping on the stairs. The front door was broken, so people kept banging on it at night to get it shut. Maybe that’s authentic to Nantucket houses, but it made for a noisy stay. The employees were nice and housekeeping was fine, though it didn’t seem like they wanted to service the room. I can’t imagine how tiny the Queen Petite must be. I don’t know whether the other Inns are better, but I probably wouldn’t stay here again. There’s also a camera pointed at the front door that can look into your bedroom.

The Regatta Inn was cozy, with plenty of pleasant shared areas to spend time outside the room. Alicia, the manager, went above and beyond to make our first weekend of April feel special. Both the service and location were amazing, and we’ll definitely be back.
