Chardonnay Lodge

The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. The remote was so complicated it was hard to use, and it needed batteries. The TV screen seemed to have some kind of moisture issue that made it impossible to see. There was no internet or WiFi, and there weren’t movie channels except PBS. As soon as we arrived, the smoke alarm started chirping because it needed a battery. The manager eventually came and replaced it with a D battery. The remote needed a battery too. The heater seemed stuck at extreme heat or no heat at all. The towels were white, but the sheets were a gross gray. The Chardonnay Lodge doesn’t use fitted sheets, so the sheet over the mattress kept slipping off. I was afraid to pull it back and look at the mattress. The pillows felt like they’d been through a world war. I would never stay here again. It wasn’t worth the money we saved.

A bit dated, but it looked quite clean. The bed was good and so was the shower. The problem was, whenever the neighbor started showering, the noise made it impossible to sleep. Still, it was just worth the money.

I was sick and tried to reschedule, but they said I needed documentation. It was THANKSGIVING, and my doctor was out of office until 12/1. I checked in anyway since I would have lost my money otherwise. The water was yellow. I ran both the sink and the toilet, and the water from each was yellow. I checked out after seeing that, then drove 2.5 hours back home. I was sneezing, coughing, and blowing my nose the whole time. It was a lousy experience, and they didn’t seem to care about guests. I’ll stick to Airbnb.

The front desk staff were polite and helpful, but that was the only redeeming part of my stay. I’d booked two rooms. One already had someone else’s belongings inside, and the other key didn’t work. The room I ended up with was disgusting and felt neglected, with no fresh paint, beat-up furniture, and a broken interior door lock that made me feel unsafe. The AC barely worked, and the bed had no proper fitted sheet, just a comforter over a mattress pad. I looked for bugs because the room felt so dirty. Thankfully I didn’t find any, but I shouldn’t have had to check. The bathroom was moldy, there were unfinished patches on the walls, and I found hair in the tub. The water temperature kept jumping around, and at one point it was so hot it felt like lava. I settled for a cold shower just to get through it. I’m counting down the hours until I can leave. It’s not worth saving a few bucks to feel unsafe and uncomfortable the whole time. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot, I had a bad feeling: a shirtless man stood in his doorway with his belly hanging over his shorts. I tried to keep an open mind, but things only got worse. Don’t stay here.
