The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the hotel was clean. Breakfast was good for the price of the room. The refrigerator was leaking when we arrived, so we turned down the cold and used towels to clean up. After dinner I called down for more towels and two extra pillows, but the person was rude, blamed us for the leak, and didn’t want to give us the pillows. The elevator seemed a little sketchy, so we usually took the stairs. I’d rate it 3.5 out of 5.
The room was clean and acceptable, and they put me in the accessible room I’d requested. It was conveniently around the back of the building near the entrance. The hot breakfast was typical for this kind of place, and the kitchen staff were friendly and polite. At check-in, though, the staff felt cold. I had to ask about breakfast hours and other services, and nobody greeted me when I came in. I was the one doing all the greetings.
After two nights without power, waking up to a 38-degree house convinced us it was time to find a motel. Our power had been out for 12 days because of the ice storm, and Comfort Inn & Suites was less than 3 miles from home. We spent a wonderful 10 days there, a real home away from home. We went back home each day to check on things and bring more stuff, but we could count on returning to a cozy room and having breakfast ready the next morning. Breakfast was good every day, and the host there was caring. Whenever we needed something in the room, housekeeping had someone available. The front desk people were good through check-in, our extended stay, and checkout. Several linemen stayed there each night. They were easy to be around, and we got to thank them for the work they were doing. We’re in our 80s and don’t travel much, but whenever we need to stay overnight again, I’ll look for a Comfort Inn.
The hot tub bubbles were filthy, nearly black, and there were baby bottle caps by my bed, as if the floor hadn’t been vacuumed. Management are liars, and I’ve never met such rude, judgmental people. They charged me for smoking in the room even though they’d watched me come in from smoking outside in the designated area. I feel they did it to be rude and kick me out. They also came into my room in the middle of my reservation without permission and for no reason, just to see that I’d brought a bagel in from breakfast. It was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. Honestly, I’d rather deal with bugs than be treated so rudely and badly.
The front desk woman was nice, but the room and facilities were awful. Our hallway smelled so strongly of marijuana that it gave me a headache, and the pool and hot tub area were dirty. The location felt loud and unsafe, with the interstate right out front, active train tracks behind, and a pool hall bar next door that stayed open all night. The room itself was barely cleaned. There was food and debris along the floor by the bed and nightstand, the bedding was stained and smelled unclean, and the walls looked dirty. The outlets were in poor shape and wouldn’t hold my phone charger. The door felt weak, as if a good push could make it swing open. At 10pm we checked the beds and found lots of short, curly hair in the sheets. That was the point when we decided to change hotels. Hotels.com contacted the property to ask for help, but they declined. I’m stuck paying for two rooms that were unfit to use, plus the cost of a second hotel.
