Fiddlers Inn Opryland

The heat and warm showers were just what we needed after leaving home with no electricity in freezing weather. My husband and I are older, so we headed out as soon as daylight came and found Fiddlers Inn. We booked two days, then had to add two more because our power was still out. The staff were friendly and helpful at every hour, and the housekeeper was terrific. Thanks to everyone for making a hard time a little easier.

The bathroom looks like it was renovated recently, though clearly on the cheap, for better and worse. The rest of the place is gross. There was hair in the sink, dirty sheets, sticky carpet, and the room smelled like cat pee. Every curtain I saw was torn, and the walls are so thin I could hear phones ringing next door. Music from the business beside us kept going at 12:40 a.m. Honestly, you're staying here because it's cheap.

We still haven't received the $180 refund for our prepaid online reservation. The manager told us to cancel it, then gave us 15 minutes to pack and get out. After we'd already stayed two weeks, he refused to honor the booking, saying only "traffic" and offering that as a rude, one word explanation. We had just one guest during those two weeks, which should be on camera. A front desk employee also asked for cash instead of a card for a deposit that was $50 cheaper, and gave no receipt. The same employee repeatedly made advances toward my girlfriend when she went to the lobby. There seemed to be constant "traffic" through the hotel that looked like drugs and prostitution, and management appeared aware of and okay with it. The staff need replacing.

The staff were rude and unhelpful when we raised our concerns, and the place felt more like long-term housing than a hotel. Children ran around unsupervised, some in only diapers, which made it feel chaotic and unprofessional. Our room smelled strongly of cigarettes from the moment we walked in, and the smell made the stay uncomfortable. It also felt neglected: mold covered the showerhead, the TV stand was thick with dust, neither of the two TVs had a remote, and the bathroom door was coming off its hinges and hard to close. A very disappointing stay. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
