Alex greeted me promptly and pleasantly at reception, and made sure the other guests and I were looked after. I also met Lee before checkout in the morning, and Lee checked that I was happy with my stay. The property looked well kept when I arrived, and my room seemed clean, though it had a strong cleaning product smell that didn’t bother me. I was in the area for work and just needed somewhere to sleep and rest. The facility did that well, but I don’t think it offers many of the amenities people might want on a leisure trip. The office has set business hours rather than a receptionist available around the clock, so it felt more like an apartment complex than a traditional hotel. The rooms are adequate and include a kitchen area for longer stays, but mine had no utensils or dishes.

The price was great, and the motel was convenient for my job, but this was a terrible experience. My husband and I are in town for 12 weeks of work and planned to pay week to week. We arrived around 6 p.m. and waited at the desk for over 30 minutes. I called WoodSprings customer service on the 1-800 number to get them to contact the clerk. She came after about 40 minutes, apologized, and checked us in. We’d requested the first floor when booking the week before, but were put on the fourth. As soon as we entered, my husband told me not to put our things down because we weren’t staying. I was bitten by fleas eight times in the 30 seconds I was in the room. A stench mixed with very strong air freshener was overwhelming, and my husband said it burned the back of his throat when he breathed. I went back to ask for a refund. They said the manager had to handle it, so I’d need to return the next day. When I went back that morning, I was told I’d be charged for the previous night, even though we’d only walked into the room and straight back out. The refund still hasn’t reached my account, and I was told it could take up to ten business days. Outside the motel, the smell of weed nearly knocked me over as people were hanging around by the door. I wouldn’t have chosen this place if it weren’t for the low price and its convenience to work. I’d give it zero stars if I could. Wood spring suites, do better!

The office was closed when I arrived, with a sign telling people to call. I waited about 15 minutes, and there were around five dogs inside. The other residents looked pretty shady, and the place felt unsafe. I’d made my reservation about three weeks ahead and called a week before to confirm everything was set, but they still turned me away with no rooms available. Save your time and effort and go elsewhere.

The only thing that disappointed me was the lack of breakfast, but the hotel has its own kitchen, so that’s okay. The staff in Madison, TN are awesome and welcoming. The woman at the front desk is wonderful and has some of the best customer service I’ve seen in a while.

We paid $122 per night, and I travel a lot, but I could probably put up with either the smell or the bedding. Both together were too much, especially for that price. My friend and I had come to TN for a class. She booked a nonsmoking room with two beds and no pets. After a day of travel and flight delays, we reached the hotel close to midnight. The desk clerk said only a single room was available and blamed a pool tournament they hadn’t known about. That didn’t explain why our reserved double room had been given away when we’d booked ahead. It was late and our class started early, so we took it because we were exhausted. We’d come by cab and couldn’t face searching for another place at that hour. The hall smelled like old food. The room was worse, with stale cigarette smoke and sickly sweet spray trying to cover it. My eyes burned all night, maybe from smoke coming through the vents or paint, and I had to take two migraine pills. Our clothes felt like they’d smell like the room for the rest of the trip. I slept with my long sleeve shirt over my nose and mouth, but the burning eyes and crawling “ick” feeling made it hard to get comfortable. We were both waking every hour from the noise. Someone played loud music in another room, and there was stomping upstairs. After the music stopped, the awful surging AC and guests coming and going in the hall were the loudest sounds. The AC sounded like it might catch fire, with a WOMP WHINE WHOMP WHINE that we’ll remember for a long time. Birds apparently sing all night too, though there wasn’t much road noise. The bed was filthy. The top sheet had cigarette burns and dark dog hair all over it, even though we hadn’t brought pets. There were pet friendly room signs in the hall, but not on our door. If the sheets had been cleaned properly, there shouldn’t have been hair anyway. I don’t know if they were even changed, and I’m afraid to guess. The sheets were very thin, and the pillows were so flat that folding them in half didn’t make them as thick as a standard pillow. There was mold along the top of the shower and what looked like tiny bugs or dirt in the outer corners. I’ve slept on couches that were more restful. I’ve never spent a night wishing I could sleep just to make time pass and get closer to leaving. We both slept terribly and faced an eight hour class on almost no sleep, on top of jet lag. A few things were okay: the bathroom towels were decent quality, the floor looked swept, and when I shone a light under the bed nothing ran out. The walls were plain. The appliances looked like a new renovation, and there was a large TV, which might suit some people, maybe longer term guests. None of that made up for the gross bed, which is the most important part of a stay. The area seemed industrial, with auto dealerships, a few restaurants and occasional shopping if you have transportation. I wish photos could scratch and sniff, because the smell in the hall alone should have told us what the room would be like. Wide angle photos can hide a lot, but not smells. I’ll add photos in daylight.
