Joe Stone made us feel very welcome, and he’s personable, knowledgeable, and polite. The cottage was just right for us, and breakfast was a real highlight. Though Joe isn’t a Master Chef, the breakfasts he creates are every bit as good as some of the best we’ve had at a B&B. A great pick for a cottage getaway. Thank you, Joe.

Joe was such a kind and talented host. In the evening he played a couple of piano pieces for us, and in the morning he cooked a lovely breakfast. Sweetie was a delight too, a very well-behaved, friendly dog. We stayed in the private cottage behind the house, which was comfortable and felt like a home away from home. There’s a piano in the cottage as well if you enjoy playing. My wife and I had a great time and would definitely recommend Stone House.

Joe's history of the house and his collection of art were fascinating to hear about. His ancestors have owned the home since it was built, and I can't think of anything in my own family that's stayed in the family since the 1850s. He was generous with his time, chatting with us and suggesting places to visit and eat. We also got to hear a lovely piano concert one evening, and he made breakfast each morning to suit our preferred timing. His sweet companion dog was another nice part of the stay. We were in the cottage at the back of the property, an adorable two-bedroom, one-bathroom space. The beds were comfy, it was clean and tidy, and the decor felt carefully chosen. I liked that the bathroom had two sets of differently colored towels so we could keep track of whose was whose. The grounds are charming too. Joe was doing some upkeep and renovations while we were there, and it was nice to see an old house getting so much care. My BFF and I take a trip together every couple of years, and in August we picked Natchez. Stone House was close to downtown, though at 110 degrees we weren't up for walking into town. For a comfortable historic stay without a commercial feel, I'd recommend it.

The home’s history is fascinating, especially hearing it from Joe, who’s both the proprietor and a descendant of the family connected to the property. He shared so much about the house and city. The room was cozy and very nice, and his breakfasts were wonderful. His dog Precious is an absolute sweetheart, too. If you get the chance, try the Praline Pecan Liqueur he sells. It’s delicious.

We’d never been to Natchez before, but we’ll be back. That last-minute weekend turned into one of our best trips. The cottage was peaceful, relaxing, and really comfortable, and Joe and little Precious made us feel so welcome. Each morning Joe served a homemade gourmet breakfast that made us feel like royalty. I loved talking with him and hearing all he knows about the home and Natchez. He took the time to share its history with us, and we appreciated that.
