Sleep Inn & Suites New Braunfels

The front desk staff were helpful and understanding, and they gave us a refund. We checked in for two nights, but less than an hour after arriving my boyfriend and I found a dead bed bug on the bed. The TV had a line across it like its screen had been cracked, there was a hole in the wall, and the baseboards were filthy. I'd never recommend staying there, even to my worst enemy.

I'm still waiting for a $50 charge to drop off my credit card. They charged it twice as a fee for incidentals or damages. At checkout after our two-night stay, I had to wait at the desk for the employee to acknowledge me; she was hiding behind the computer and didn't seem welcoming when she finally looked over. The breakfast was disappointing and incomplete for something advertised as a full hot breakfast. During the week, there were no hot eggs, only cold rubbery boiled eggs, sausage patties, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, cereal, pastries, and toast. I have kidney disease and don't eat meat, and I don't want to fill up on carbs. I just eat hot eggs and toast. The woman in the breakfast area sat talking to a coworker instead of helping, which struck me as lazy. The room wasn't clean, either. The whole floor needs mopping; my feet and socks got dirty walking on it. The shower was the worst we've had in any hotel, with water pressure that was barely there. The sink faucet pressure was just as bad. We stayed the third week of December 2025, and the pressure was still poor. This seems to be a recurring problem, judging from other reviewers who say management apologizes and explains it away. On that visit to Country Inn & Suites in New Braunfels, Texas, I was given a handicapped room despite booking a standard King through my Choice Account. I'm a Diamond member who stays 50 to 60 nights at Choice hotels during our travels, but no one acknowledged my membership. When I questioned the room assignment, the woman at check-in said that was what I'd booked and couldn't offer another room. Choice member services confirmed my reservation was for a standard king. My husband needed the bathtub to soak his sore body after a long drive because of his arthritis; the handicapped room only had that awful low-pressure shower. This was a very unhappy stay.

The stay was great, aside from a couple of staff members who spoke to me like I couldn't understand English, which felt completely disrespectful. My key kept deprogramming in my pocket, and the receptionist got annoyed when they had to reset it.

Angel went above and beyond to fix a booking mistake that was my fault, and check-in went smoothly after that. We had a great stay. The location couldn't be better, and our room was spacious, nice, and very clean. I'd recommend this hotel and will choose it again next time we're in New Braunfels.
