The room seemed to have been updated recently, with a great TV, fridge, and mirrors. But the carpet, drawers, linens, and restroom all lacked basic cleanliness. I asked for a clean blanket and got an old sheet and a dirty quilt instead. There were lots of events going on, so it was noisy as soon as I walked in. I won’t return because of the poor hygiene.

DerpyCon 2025 was just a short walk from the hotel, with event spaces spread over three floors around the lobby. That made for one of the best convention atmospheres I’ve experienced. It’s also right in downtown New Brunswick, close to lots of restaurants and shops, and there’s plenty of hotel parking. Even though it’s downtown and just off the interstate, it was surprisingly quiet, aside from the occasional siren. The lobby, hall, and room were spotless, and our room had the toiletries and extra towels we needed for the weekend. The one noticeable missing item was a microwave. Staff were helpful and welcoming the whole time, and the price felt affordable for a convention weekend. A must-stay if you’re coming from outside the area for DerpyCon.

We arrived at 4, an hour after check-in was supposed to start, but our room still wasn’t ready. We’d booked the presidential suite and only had 21 hours there because we were on a tight schedule to visit a friend in the hospital. Every minute mattered, and we needed to get in quickly and prepare for the weekend. When I asked if it would be a few minutes, they said it’d probably be closer to an hour. That wasn’t okay. They offered complimentary parking, but it didn’t make up for losing the first two hours. No one followed up afterward. It’s a great hotel in a great location, and I’d be happy to return if they make this right.

Our stay was lovely, and we enjoyed the Jazz Fest. The room was beautiful and had a very modern update. The service was good until we ordered a takeaway meal from the restaurant. We waited well over an hour. People who arrived after us got their orders first, and we never got our one item to share or the dessert. We went back to the room and ordered Uber Eats instead. Next time, we know to get food at the Jazz Fest and bring it back to the room.

Service was a 10/10. I was nearby for a medical consult and recovering from bronchitis, with a hoarse voice. The front desk staff kindly offered me water and asked if I needed anything. It was a small gesture, but I remembered it. The hotel was clean, modern, and well kept, and after staying at The Hedrich and Hilton nearby before, I’d say this is the best hotel in the immediate New Brunswick area. I’d absolutely return on my next trip. The central A/C wasn’t very adjustable, though. My room was warm, and a sign above the thermostat suggested opening a window to cool it down. That worked during the day, but I was uncomfortable sleeping and don’t like leaving windows open at night. Hopefully they’ll have individual thermostats someday! 😄
