The Blake Hotel

The Blake has a great boutique hotel look, with tasteful decor, spacious rooms, and no carpet. Everything was very clean. The bathroom was large, the linens were good quality, and the water pressure was good. The kitchenette had what we needed, though the freezer sections in mini fridges are always too small and never cold enough. We came to New Haven for the pizza pilgrimage and wanted a kitchenette, so we were lucky to find this place. We stayed three nights, and every staff member we met was professional. The area felt very safe, and we walked to museums, coffee shops, and restaurants. We didn’t bring our dog this time, but The Blake is dog friendly.

We had a great night here during a visit to Yale. It’s a cozy, comfortable place in a convenient location, with nice staff. There’s a continental breakfast, but no hotel restaurant; plenty of sit-down options are nearby, as is a 24-hour Walgreens about a block and a half away. There wasn’t room to unload our cases out front without blocking the street, so we parked in the public lot down the block. We found out later there’s also valet parking around the back.

My company used the hotel for emergencies. The service was really good, and Jay was very professional and patient with customers. The team at Blake Hotel is great.

I haven’t stayed here, so I can’t speak to the actual service. We booked a room for a wedding block because the wedding hosts said the hotel was dog friendly. But I was told dogs can’t be left alone in the rooms, which defeats the purpose of booking for a wedding. Unless your dog can come to the wedding, look for somewhere else to stay.
