Drury Plaza Hotel New Orleans

I visited in July 2025 and still talk about this hotel in 2026. It was one of the best places I’ve stayed in New Orleans, with wonderful service. Paula and Shawna went above and beyond, and I hope they’re doing well. The hotel was clean, welcoming, and quiet. It wasn’t too expensive for a three-day trip either, so I’d say it’s a good find if you’re looking for a nice stay.

The toilets were my only complaint. They didn’t flush very strongly, and depending on what was left in the bowl, it took a couple of tries. Otherwise, I’d happily come back. The building is beautiful, the rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the location is great. The staff really made it for me. Mel at the front desk was so kind, Mr. Michael helped with our luggage and knew the city well, and Maria in the restaurant was polite and fun. Paula at the front desk was especially personable and sweet. She made me feel right at home, and I’d return just to see her.

I was here for a business conference and had a comfortable, enjoyable stay from check-in to departure. The staff were consistently friendly and ready with a smile. My room was cozy, the air conditioning was nice and cold, and the neighborhood felt safe to walk around, with plenty of places to eat. The breakfast was wonderful, so leave time to eat at the restaurant. I’d definitely come back with my wife for a quick getaway.

The hotel is stunning, but this was a very disappointing stay, and my last visit. We booked and paid for a king bed, but were given a room with two double beds. The room was also 77 degrees when we entered. We called the front desk, and an “engineer” arrived with a ladder about 20 minutes later and adjusted the air conditioner. After dinner, three hours later, it was still 73 degrees. We called again at 8:22pm, and another “engineer” came with another ladder and made another adjustment. We hoped that would fix it, but after we went to a Christmas Party, the room was still 71 degrees at 12:47am, four hours later. Maybe it would finally be comfortable enough to sleep by checkout. I can’t help wondering whether the air conditioner would have worked if we’d received the room we booked. I’ve attended events and lunches at this beautiful hotel and had always wanted to stay as a guest. Unfortunately, I won’t be back.
