Federal City Inn & Suites

There were bugs everywhere, stains all over, and a bad smell throughout the place. The sheets and towels were yellow, and there was even a random dirty knife in a drawer. Someone in the neighboring room was yelling. There was no hot water, the water wasn't clear, the mirrors were broken, and the bathroom was atrocious, with mold and rust everywhere. There was nothing good about this place. I left immediately. The staff member at the desk wouldn't refund me, was very rude, and didn't believe there were bugs even though I could prove it. This is the absolute worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Don't go here. I'll be posting a picture of one of many stains, and I plan to sue the company and get my money back. They're advertising it falsely online. I repeat, don't set foot in this monstrosity of a “hotel”.

This isn't a terrible place to stay if you're going to the marine corp base, but the property is being poorly maintained. The Algiers Development District (ADD), who owns it, is doing a terrible job of keeping it up to date. The webpage said every room had a regular-sized refrigerator, but that's a lie. The towels were stained, one window had a broken latch, and there was a huge gap between the door and its frame. I didn't even know hotel windows could open anymore.

The quiet location was the one good thing about my stay. The room wasn't maintained well: there were no dishes or utensils in the kitchen area, just a stovetop, microwave, and small fridge. The ironing board was broken and the iron leaked, and the tub was peeling badly enough that I didn't want to stand in it. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned, and there was no hot water, though the heat did work. There are only two floors and no elevator. This isn't an upscale hotel, despite the four-star label. I understand you get what you pay for, but a small hotel should be able to keep its rooms in better shape. I wouldn't recommend it because of the dirty room and lack of hot water.

We love staying here when we come to New Orleans. It's quiet and nice, and the rooms have a little kitchenette. The place used to be a military barracks before it was converted, so expect a very basic hotel stay. There's no pool or breakfast.
