Hotel Mazarin

The Wi-Fi never worked for us. Two tech-savvy millennials tried three devices, and the front desk's response was to connect me to IT. I knew how to join a network, and I couldn't reach anyone there anyway, so I had to leave a message. That poor service made the stay worse. The rooms were clean but dated, and our king room and bathroom felt much tighter than the Google Maps photos suggested. The mini fridge was tiny, barely enough for a six-pack, and there was no microwave, not even a guest one. The pedestal sink also left nowhere for a toiletry bag except the toilet tank. I wouldn't come back. There are better places with better guest service. If the Wi-Fi had worked and the front desk interaction had gone better, this might have been a much better stay.

The courtyard was a lovely place to sit with friends or stop by the wine bar for a quick drink. Hotel Mazarin is an older property, but our room had been nicely updated, with a roomy bathroom and a comfortable bed. The workout room is functional, and the price was reasonable even on the second weekend of Jazz Fest. Its French Quarter location made it easy to walk everywhere, from Bourbon Street to Jackson Square and Canal Street, with plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. There's no parking on site, so valet is necessary. We barely needed the car anyway, since buses and cable cars were only a few blocks away. It made for a great NOLA weekend, and we'd stay again.

We spent three nights here, and having a room overlooking the quiet, charming courtyard was a real treat, especially for an afternoon break. The desk clerks suggested a couple of casual places when we arrived; both served good food at fair prices. We also ended the trip with a nightcap at the wine bar. The location worked perfectly for everything we wanted to do in the French Quarter. All around excellent!

The balcony was incredible for sitting and people-watching, and our room was spacious, with coffee and complimentary water. The front desk team, especially Sonja and Lola, were professional, easy to talk to, and generous with local recommendations. They helped with everything we needed. The hotel is close to Bourbon Street, shops, cafes, and other places we could walk to. I brought my wife to Nola because she'd always dreamed of going, and the hotel lived up to the pictures and its location. We love Nola, and now know where we'll stay next time.
