The room was roomy and cozy, with plenty of light, and the bathroom had good pressure and lots of hot water. Check-in was easy, and Ms. Donna was the best. She shared restaurant favorites nearby and tips on what to do around the area. The TOMATO FESTIVAL was happening during my June 3-9th stay. Parking is a challenge, so if you don't need a car, skip renting one. Everything is within walking distance. The television stopped working two days into my stay. I mentioned it to the front desk staff on Saturday night, and a young woman came up to try to fix it. She gave it a go, then a maintenance worker got it working about ten minutes after arriving on Sunday. I'd stay here again. Room 420
A charming little hotel in downtown New Orleans, with French-inspired decor and a convenient central spot. We could walk to everything. It was fairly clean overall, though the hallway carpet could use replacing.
After more than two weeks of trying to sort out a refund, I got nowhere. La Galerie Hotel said Airbnb had to issue it, and Airbnb said the hotel was responsible. It became an exhausting chicken-or-the-egg loop, and no refund came through. The staff's treatment made it worse. I felt dismissed, blamed, and disrespected throughout, and have never had hotel employees speak to me so rudely or meanly. Their attitude and lack of professionalism shocked me. They didn't seem interested in helping resolve the problem. Travel costs a lot, and people work hard for their money. I'd put that money elsewhere. There are plenty of hotels in New Orleans that value customer service and treat guests with basic respect.
Being attached to Coterie was a big bonus for us. The food there is amazing, and I loved being able to walk to some of my favorite nearby places. The hosts we met were all kind, welcoming, and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with lovely high ceilings and a really comfortable bed. The location worked perfectly for shopping and dining, too. I especially liked the complimentary Mardi Gras King Cake–flavored coffee and lemon water, such a thoughtful welcome. We usually stay at a Marriott when we visit New Orleans, but this was our first time here and we were so impressed we'll definitely be back. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
New Orleans was great, and I had a lovely birthday with my family, but I wish we'd chosen a better hotel. This was the worst experience I've ever had in New Orleans, from check-in through checkout. The room televisions were both a problem. One had a huge crack in the screen, and the other had no visible crack but didn't work. I didn't want to be blamed for damage we hadn't caused, so I tried calling the front desk from the room phone, which didn't work either. The front desk woman said no one was available to help then. We asked to move, but the hotel was full and she couldn't do anything that night. She said she'd notify the manager and maintenance, but nobody came by the next day. No one checked in or tried to make the stay better. We felt ignored for the rest of our visit, as if they hoped the issue would disappear by itself. The parking situation was another mess at checkout. My husband went to get the car so we wouldn't have to carry luggage through the streets, and found it booted. We'd paid the hotel $40 a night for parking, which still meant driving ourselves to park. He called for help while I went to the desk, but again there was no manager and the woman said she couldn't help. Frustrated, he paid the $150 boot fee. That left us paying the hotel $80 for parking plus $150 for the boot. For that extra cost, we could have stayed somewhere better with better service. I'd suggest arranging parking yourself and paying the lot directly. You have to park on your own anyway, and the printed instructions aren't very clear. It's quite possible to end up in the wrong lot and get booted. The hotel told us there was nothing they could do and didn't even try to help, just said to pay the fee. If you run into a problem like ours, there's NO ONE AROUND TO HELP YOU. The customer service was the WORST I've had at any hotel.
