Roami at Motorworks

We booked at the last minute after our other place fell through, and wish we’d researched more. The rooms look lovely online and have potential in person, but the service felt poor. We booked a one-bedroom, one-bath unit over the phone with a representative an hour before arrival, then were given a two-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath unit. I wasn’t upset, just confused. The electric keypad was temperamental, and the wall instructions didn’t explain how to use it properly. At first we were impressed by the historic renovation, modern touches, and nice finishes. Then we noticed how little cleaning seemed to have been done. There were makeup marks on the walls and furniture, dried spills on counters and tables, dust and dirt everywhere, and cabinet doors coming off their hinges. The half-bath toilet wasn’t secured properly to the floor. The upstairs bathroom smelled strange, had mold, and its fan was broken. Save yourself the headache and book an actual hotel. This company clearly doesn’t care about customer service or experience and just wants to make as much money as it can.

The historic industrial conversion at Roami at Motorworks is beautifully done. High ceilings, exposed brick, and huge windows give it a distinctive Warehouse District feel. The apartment was enormous and carefully decorated, more like a stylish luxury home than a hotel. A great pick if you want a place with character.

Horrendous Airbnb. The place feels filthy, smells like sewage all the time, and the showers don’t drain properly. A homeless person lives there and knows the codes to all the Airbnbs in the building because management doesn’t change them. I don’t know how they can keep hosting people. Trust the reviews and book somewhere else.

This place has five-star potential, but the broken appliances ruined it for us. Our fridge didn’t work. We called several times and were told someone would come fix it; someone did come, but it still wasn’t fixed. We ended up spending a lot on restaurant meals, ice, and a cooler. Other guests told us they’d had appliance problems too, called, and nobody came. Google reviews suggest it’s a common complaint, which makes me think the company knows and isn’t addressing it. There’s no staff on site, and without a working fridge you have to eat every meal out. There was no ice machine either, so we went across the street to the gas station several times a day for iced drinks. On a long stay, a broken washer or dryer would be a problem too, since they don’t replenish towels or washcloths or restock the downstairs community area as the sign and check-in instructions say. There’s a lot of potential here, but things aren’t getting fixed.
