1 Hotel Central Park

The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and high quality, filling, and healthy. I needed to feed hungry executives at our summer 2025 company retreat, and the cuisine was one of the reasons I chose the hotel. The meeting rooms and guest rooms also suited us, with plenty of natural light, plants, and tasteful decor. I booked 1 Hotel CP's second-floor meeting spaces and several rooms for the two-day retreat. I've coordinated events like this around the world for decades, and the staff here were attentive, professional, and supportive. They handled every need quickly and effectively. I'm not usually one to write reviews, but the team deserves thanks for their excellent support, especially Andrea and Salvator.

The location is fantastic, with the subway nearby, Central Park a block away, good restaurants all around, and a market across the street that's open 24/7. The hotel is quiet and seems to run efficiently. I liked the room's cozy cabin-like decor, with lots of plants done in an elegant way. My room on the 14th floor had a view over 56th St. It was comfortable, though we'd asked for a bathtub and got a shower instead. Service was uneven. When we pulled up in a private car, the doorman looked at us and went inside, so we got our own luggage from the trunk and opened the doors ourselves. He then said, "oh sorry." Check-in was smooth and the room was nicely decorated, but on Saturday we returned to find it hadn't been tidied. We later realized we'd left the privacy doorbell on. On Sunday at 10, I asked for the room to be tidied, the garbage taken out, and towels replaced. They texted to say it would be handled, but when I returned at 6 PM, nothing had been done. I called downstairs several times without an answer, then went down myself to ask for towels and garbage removal. About 30 minutes later, a man came up to refill the refrigerator, which wasn't what I'd requested. I told him we needed towels and the garbage taken out. Twenty minutes after that, housekeepers arrived with towels and washcloths. I said we'd be out in 20 minutes so they could tidy up, and they said yes. When we came back that night, the room had been cleaned. The stay was good overall, but service wasn't up to par. I'm not sure what the doormen do, aside from taking luggage to or from rooms and receiving tips. I saw them fail to hold the door for people, including those with bags, several times over the weekend. Would I stay again? I'm not sure. I'd probably try somewhere else.

I was really let down by my first stay at a 1Hotel. I travel often for work and had high hopes for the chain, but NYC has plenty of other options and I probably won't come back to this one. I chose this hotel specifically for the gym, but it was closed. The website still advertised classes there and let me RSVP for the next day. If renovations mean the gym is unavailable, guests should be told before arrival and classes shouldn't be advertised during that time. After checkout, the hotel never sent my invoice, so I had to follow up. When it arrived, I saw a minibar charge I hadn't made. I called billing, and they removed it quickly.

The restaurant food was decent, which was about the only thing that worked for us. We paid $1K for one night and wouldn't return. Having stayed at a few luxury hotels, this one fell short of what we expected. The room was small and compact, with no curtain or blind over the shower, so there was no privacy. I know this is New York, but for a thousand dollars you can find something better in the area. We were working remotely for a day, and the internet was frustratingly slow and kept disconnecting.
