Cachet Boutique NYC (CLOSED)

Don't let every review put you off, this is a great hotel. Check-in and checkout each took about two minutes, and the staff were efficient and polite. My room was clean, beautiful, and felt like home, with a huge bathroom and a nice shower. The only little hassle was paying $2 cash to store my suitcase on the day I left. It was a cheap fee and I appreciated the service, but I hadn't expected to need cash. Most tourists don't carry it, so I had to withdraw $50 and pay bank fees just to cover the $2. I wish I'd known beforehand. My deposit was returned 24 hours after I left, so keep in mind your bank may just be slow before criticizing this lovely hotel.

Friendly staff were the one real bright spot. They tried to help with what they had, and the big bathroom and nice shower were good too. Otherwise, this was pretty awful and nowhere near a four-star hotel. The pictures didn't match the place, the rooms were dirty, and the courtyard areas were very run down. I called ahead asking for a private, quiet room because reviews mentioned a club nearby. It's not just next door, it's in the same building. They put us on the far side, but the AC was broken and couldn't be fixed during our stay, leaving the room at 78 degrees. The alternative was to downgrade from a king to a queen on the first floor right beside the club. Our safe battery also died, so our valuables were inaccessible for a while. The beds and linens were uncomfortable, and it was loud and noisy. Unless you're here just to party, I'd choose another hotel.

The location was a real plus, and the staff were friendly and quick to help. My room was compact, but it worked perfectly for two, and the bathroom was lovely. I’d been worried after reading the reviews before I arrived, but I ended up having no complaints about my stay at Cachet. The weather kept me from enjoying the courtyard, which was a shame.

The hotel has several quiet corners that would work well for getting some work done, plus a peaceful, cute patio. It was very quiet throughout, and the front desk team were lovely and helpful. They also brought me buckets of ice several times a day when I asked, which I needed after training as an athlete. The location made it easy to head in different directions around the city, with subways and some major sights about a 10-20 minute walk away. The room was dusty. I left my clothes on the floor while I showered and picked them up covered in dust. The AC was worse. I called three times over three different days because my room was 79 degrees and asked for a repair or a different room. I was told a technician would come right up, but he only showed up once, after 10 p.m. when I was asleep. One night the whole cover over the AC unit fell off and nearly gave me a heart attack. I worked out that flipping a switch on the unit about once an hour would reset it and bring back cold air. The cobwebs, lost socks, and medication inside made it look like the unit hadn't been serviced in decades. The bathroom had no fan or curtain, just a half glass partition on the wrong side. The elevator made unsettling noises, and the hotel layout felt like a labyrinth where nothing made sense.
