The train right outside is loud, the mattresses are cheap spring ones and uncomfortable, and they don’t have bedbug covers. While checking for bedbugs, I cut myself on the bed frame because the metal frame was missing its guard; the cut needed medical attention. The first room had a broken frame, and the next was just as filthy, with another uncomfortable mattress. The outside, hallways, and rooms were dirty, worse than any NYC hotel I’ve stayed in for business, except for places I visited in India. I left because the hotel was uninhabitable. Even the half-size ironing board was useless, since the surfaces and floor were so dirty that ironing would have dirtied my clothes. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere, whether you’re traveling for business, leisure, or with children.

Check-in and checkout were easy, and the hotel also offers late checkout, which was nice. The room was clean, warm, and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, with sausage, eggs, cheese, bagels, croissants, and other choices. There are only 14 parking spots for the whole hotel, though you can park on nearby streets. I debated taking off a star for the limited parking, but the service and room won me over. It’s near just about everything, and I plan to stay here on future visits to NY. Highly recommend.

The one good thing was the 7-11 around the corner, whose owners are amazing. Everything else about the stay was bad. The photos aren’t accurate, and the negative reviews are right. The whole hotel smelled of stale smoke, floors were sticky everywhere, and the bathrooms had other people’s hair and dirt. The beds were doubles, not queens, and smaller than full beds. The wall AC worked only sometimes; luckily it wasn’t very hot that weekend, though the room was still a little uncomfortable. At checkout, there seemed to be a homeless man lying on a bench in the “lobby.” Spend the extra $40-$60 for another hotel and enjoy your trip to this amazing city.

We heard staff shouting in the morning and disturbing the whole floor. The air conditioner was so dirty we didn’t dare switch it on, and the room smelled like cigarettes. Cleaning clearly wasn’t done properly: there was an empty bottle, papers, and hair in our room. When we came in, we saw lots of bedding and towels on the floor. The room itself was dirty, too. Don’t stay here.
