The George Manhattan, Tapestry Collection by Hilton+++

The service could have been more attentive and consistent, but I still had a pleasant stay at The George Manhattan. The rooms were comfortable, and I liked the stylish decor and modern feel. It has a distinctive boutique atmosphere, and the convenient location made exploring the city easy. A solid choice if you're looking for a chic Manhattan hotel.

The staff stood out most for me. They were genuinely friendly and attentive, always ready to help with directions or sort out any question quickly. The room was bright, spacious, and very clean, with tidy housekeeping every day. We slept wonderfully in the comfortable bed with fresh linens. We stayed for several days, and the hotel was even better than we expected. It was a great mix of comfort, service, and atmosphere. I highly recommend it and would be happy to return.

For more than $400 a night, we expected a lot more from The George Harlem. The rooms are extremely cramped, with hardly any space to unpack or put away clothes. Some rooms seemed to have wardrobes, but ours didn't. Our so-called “pool view” mostly faced cramped backyards and unattractive buildings. The pool itself looked unfinished and uninviting, nothing like the expectations set by the hotel's online photos. We also found few cafes or restaurants nearby. Some streets felt uncomfortable and somewhat unsafe, especially in the evening. The area nearer Columbia University was much nicer, though the campus is heavily fenced and not really open to visitors. Breakfast options were another letdown. There was no buffet, and little in the morning besides basic filter coffee. For the price and location, we expected a better stay and better amenities.

The location was why I picked the George Manhattan Hotel, and it worked out well. My room was comfortable, and the second floor had a nice place to take meetings and get work done. ELDRIS at the front desk gave A-1 service, making sure I felt safe and comfortable from arrival through departure. The rest of the staff were kind and courteous too. That's rare.
