Flushing YMCA Hostel

Out of the five times I've been here, the small pool was open only once. They say it's because they don't have enough lifeguards, which seems ridiculous. Maybe they're short on money, I don't know, but the pool schedule feels like a joke.

We're paying for these swimming lessons, and the Sunday 10:50 a.m. class has been extremely disappointing. Some coaches spend much of the session sitting around and waiting for it to end instead of actively teaching the children. It's affected their learning. I'm not sure who's currently in charge of the swim program or coaching staff, but the management team should look into this class and take steps to improve the teaching. As a community non-profit, YMCA should keep its standards up instead of providing careless, perfunctory instruction. Thank you for looking into it.

Johnson and I had a fun time playing basketball here. We also used the equipment to run and walk around, and there were other people exercising too. Everyone we met was friendly, nice, and helpful.

I'm writing for a family member who uses the Flushing YMCA branch. The showers have always had cold water, and the small pool keeps closing at the last minute because of lifeguard shortages. That pool usually has warmer water, which matters for members with conditions such as arthritis. This has been going on for a while, and management should be able to address it by hiring more lifeguards. These problems seem like they should be fixable.
