The location is the main thing this hotel has going for it, and reception staff were generally friendly. My room was mostly clean, but while I was staying there housekeeping seemed to do little beyond making the bed. They never refilled the coffee or washed glasses that were clearly used. The Wi-Fi hasn’t worked a single day. It seems to be a common complaint, yet the hotel hasn’t fixed it. For a place in the middle of Manhattan, even $50-a-night motels have better internet and temperature control. The radiator runs day and night in winter, and there’s nothing I could do about it. I could only keep the room somewhat comfortable by cracking the window a few inches. In summer, guests seem to complain about the AC not working properly too. The balcony door doesn’t open, so it’s pointless. The hotel replies to reviews, but guests keep reporting the same problems with the Wi-Fi and overheated rooms. I can’t recommend it.

We booked this hotel on a whim for a weekend in early January, traveling with our toddler, and it turned out to be a New York hidden gem. The best part is the location, right off Madison Ave in the heart of the city. Rockefeller Plaza, Central Park, and plenty of other places are a walk or cab ride away. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They brought extra blankets and pillows and showed us how to use the heating system. They can also hold your bags after checkout. Our room and bathroom were spotless, as were the closets and wardrobes, and there was a stocked mini-bar. The rooms are cozy and nice, though they may feel small compared with brand name hotels. For a boutique place right off Madison Ave in midtown Manhattan, we were very satisfied and can’t wait to book again.

Our stay at Hotel 3232 was awful. The room was very dirty: the air vents looked long uncleaned, the towels were stained, and there were visible stains on the sheets and pillows. The shower was so filthy I didn’t feel comfortable using it without shoes. I called the front desk to ask for another room, but they said none were available and that housekeeping “must not have cleaned” it. They offered to send new sheets for us to change ourselves instead of a proper solution. The conditions were unacceptable, so we left and booked another hotel. We’re still waiting to find out whether we’ll get a refund. This was one of the worst hotel stays we’ve had.

The beds were really comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. The hotel felt cozy and was in a handy location. We thought the rate was reasonable for the city and time of year. We booked a room with a kitchen, though, and there weren’t enough utensils. There were just three chairs for the four of us, which made eating in the room awkward. Still, it’s a good place to stay and I’d recommend it to people visiting the city.
