My room was bad. I booked a week but stayed only one day, and they wouldn't refund the rest of my money. The bedspread smelled dirty, and the air conditioner was noisy and blew out a stinky smell. The automatic beverage dispensers are upstairs, and the TV remotes are kept at reception. This is the worst hotel I've used in the State, and I would never recommend it to anyone.

This was my first hotel stay in NYC, and I still have great memories of it. At JFK I gave the taxi driver the address, and he asked, "The Bronx?! Are you sure?" I said yes, and he brought me to the Sheridan Hotel. I felt safe the whole time, with no safety issues, and walked the streets of South Bronx the next morning on my way to the subway for Manhattan.

A real little treasure, with a warm feel, plenty of character, and a team that really cares about how your stay goes. Exactly the kind of place you hope to come across.

The bathroom sink was gross when I arrived, and the toilet was broken. But the main issue was the door lock: the deadbolt didn't work at all. Someone suggested using the little bolt at the top that only keeps the door from opening all the way. I wasn't impressed. I've stayed in lower-rated hotels before, but never one where the lock was broken.

I found a crackpipe in my bed while I was literally sleeping there. I told a staff member, and all he did was say housekeeping cleans the rooms before each guest, basically suggesting I smoke crack. No apology, just excuses.
