The rooftop bar was lovely, and everyone we spoke with was friendly and helpful. They also gave us bottled water whenever we asked. Getting around was easy, with a station within a five-minute walk and Times Square and Central Park close enough to walk to. The room had what we needed, but four of us were squeezed into about the same space my brother had alone, minus one bed. It was fine as a place to wash up and sleep, and the shower had great pressure. Fresh towels came every day. The WiFi was a nightmare: it didn't work for the first five days, and I could connect to the restaurant next door even while sitting in reception. I'd stay again as a couple or alone, but not with a family of four.
After a few days, the place started to feel like home, and I'd definitely come back. We got a great deal and really enjoyed the stay. The staff were consistently kind and helpful, and the location was great. The rooftop bar was a lot of fun too. The room looked a little dated and could use some small cosmetic fixes, while the mattresses could have been a bit more comfortable. Nothing that ruined the stay.
Leslie, Audry, and Ari were incredible. The staff really made the place feel like home, and I can't wait to come back. The lobby had great music and energy, and the rooftop bar was amazing. They even let you take as many bottles of water as you can carry, haha. The room was good, though I wish the bathroom were bigger.
My room was larger than I expected, with a nice sofa and a lovely view over Dante Park. I did have one very cold night because only one heater was working, but the staff quickly brought an extra blanket, which I appreciated. The hotel could use some updating in places. The location is excellent for Lincoln Center and exploring around Fifth Avenue, and walking back from the ballet took only a few minutes. The front desk team were welcoming, especially Pasquale, who checked me in and made me feel at ease right away. Housekeeping kept the room clean and well looked after. WiFi worked well, and bottled water was provided daily. I'd stay again for the staff and location.
We've stayed at The Empire several times and expect to return. It's usually a good value in a great location, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar has wonderful views and decent drinks. The rooms are tiny, even for NYC, and quite worn, though not dirty. They're nearing shabby without quite getting there. The beds are comfortable, and the bedding is clean and doesn't feel worn like the rest of the room. It's a good deal as long as you set your expectations accordingly.
