Hotel Indigo Williamsburg - Brooklyn by IHG

The staff we met were kind and polite, which made what happened even more frustrating. Our stay at Hotel Indigo Williamsburg, at 500 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, was from Friday, January 30th through Sunday, February 1st. The location itself wasn’t bad, but the weather was frigid, and there was no hot water at all during our visit. We washed our hands and faces, brushed our teeth, and tried to shower in freezing water. In the middle of winter, that was unacceptable. Families with children should avoid staying under those conditions. The desk made it sound temporary and said they were working on it, but relatives of ours on another floor had the same problem. At checkout, other guests told us they’d had no hot water a day or two earlier too. They were visiting for a wedding and said nobody had warned them beforehand. The hotel clearly knew there was no hot water and still checked people in without telling them, even with freezing temperatures outside. Guests should have been told and given the choice to stay elsewhere. On top of that, smoke alarms went off repeatedly, day and night, making rest almost impossible. There was no discount, compensation, or acknowledgment of the disruption. Even if some issues were outside the hotel’s immediate control, the lack of honesty and consideration was deeply disappointing. These aren’t minor inconveniences. People deserve to know what they’re booking, especially in winter. I highly do not recommend this hotel.

Anaise, Abel, and Chandler were so helpful and amazing. We had a great day at the hotel, which was perfect for getting ready for the wedding and having family stay. It’s modern and very pretty, and the lobby bar is great too.

The neighborhood was great, and both the location and service helped make this a good trip. The rooms were okay, more like a 3/5, while the staff’s hospitality was a lot stronger. A solid four-star stay.

I found a great bagel nearby for breakfast, and the subway line was handy. The few blocks around the hotel were a bit disappointing otherwise. Rooms were fairly nice and more spacious than I expect in a big city hotel, and the staff were helpful and went above and beyond each time. It felt pricey for what you get, though I was there over the holidays, so rates were probably higher than usual. Still, a good experience, just on the expensive side.
