Hotel Mirage Brooklyn

I had to find a room in a hurry after the hotel I originally booked cancelled. Hotel Mirage's reviews seemed fine for a pinch, so I booked a king room for one night, but they gave me a double instead. I was exhausted and too baffled by the downgrade to argue when the woman at reception told me, “Don't worry, it's the same price!” The chair by the desk had a broken leg, and I promptly fell out of it when I sat down. There was no hand soap, no conditioner or hair dryer, and the tub door handle was broken. The receptionist said she'd send someone with soap and to replace the chair, but nobody came. Later I asked for another blanket and was told they'd bring one up. I mentioned the soap and chair still hadn't been dealt with, and they said three minutes. After 20 minutes, I called again to say no one had come. A man eventually brought a blanket after midnight, but it was visibly stained. Since it had taken so long, I didn't push the issue. The room next door on the first floor had its door ajar, with bags and clothes on the bed, a light on, and no one in sight. I never saw anyone go in or out. I pulled the door almost closed one night, but it was wide open again in the morning. I heard several slams in the night and assumed they came from the stairs, since that room was right next to them. The elevator smelled so strongly of roach spray that my friend and I felt lightheaded and sick. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from a train, bodega, or restaurant, though two gas stations are five minutes away. I think all those five-star reviews are fake.
