Tremont Hotel

OUU THIS HOTEL IS STEALINGGG!!! My boyfriend and I extended our stay, and he paid cash before going to work. The woman at the front desk, wearing a hijab, accepted it. About two hours later she came banging on the door and demanded that I pay, even after I told her several times he’d already paid. My boyfriend wasn’t answering his phone then. I asked three times if she was sure he hadn’t paid, and three times she said she was. I didn’t want to be put out, so I paid. As soon as the payment went through, she smiled and said, “Oh, he did pay.” She didn’t apologize and acted like it wasn’t her fault or problem. She said she’d take care of it and I’d get a refund in 24 hours. I got no confirmation and suspected she hadn’t done anything. I was right. I had to call booking.com, and she refused to speak with them or cooperate. A week later I still had no refund. booking.com told me the hotel had received its payment, claimed I was a no-show, and wasn’t cooperating with returning the money. I was charged a $110 cancellation fee because of her mistake and lack of accountability. I got no accommodation, just a request to delete my bad rating. Here’s another one: this hotel steals money from its guests.

We felt afraid every time we went outside. Local people and every Uber driver we spoke to said the area wasn’t safe. It’s also a long way from major sights like Central Park and Times Square. Our first room, although booked as non-smoking, smelled strongly of weed, so we had to switch to a cleaner one. The second room had very dim lighting. Service was okay until our final night, when our key cards suddenly stopped working and we were stuck outside the room. Staff first said our booking was over, but it wasn’t. We argued and showed proof, and after a few frustrating minutes and some computer clicks, they accepted that and made us new cards.

Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were great. The room was clean and nicely furnished, with a really comfortable bed and fluffy pillows. I’ll definitely come back.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and I liked that smoking rooms are available on the higher floors. They accept cash, which made a last-minute check-in convenient. The hotel looks bright at night, with a deli next door and a few places you can walk to. I’d recommend it, 9/10.
