The staff made us feel at home and helped us have a great time in New York. The bartender and chefs were the best, and everyone working there was so helpful. I stayed here during my December vacation and had the best time. The rooms were nice and clean, and we could see the Empire State from our building. It’s close to everything, so I’d highly recommend it if you’re visiting and want to walk or catch the subway. I’d definitely come back.

I’ve stayed at a few hotels in the city and find Hyatt Herald Square in Midtown to be a great value. The hotel feels secure, which is a must for me, and the front desk staff are pleasant and helpful. On my last visit we used valet parking. I’m sure I could have found cheaper parking, but spending a few extra bucks was worth avoiding the hassle. The rooms are spacious and have what you need. For me, cleanliness, hospitality, security, location, and feeling wanted as a guest all matter. That’s what I find each time I stay at Hyatt Herald Square.

The staff were excellent, kind, responsive, welcoming, and helpful. The rooms need more light, and there’s barely space to stand with one checked bag. Unless you can staple your suitcases to the walls, where are we meant to put them and still move around? The bathrooms are almost as big as the bedrooms. Common sense says living space should take priority over toilet space. It feels like Hyatt cut every corner to protect profits. The marketing photos are misleading, the TVs are from 2010 and can’t Chromecast like at the other city properties, and the amenity fee is nearly worthless for what they claim it covers. It’s fine for a property to make revenue, but this rarely feels worth it when the rooms are cattle cars. Hyatt elites, don’t redeem points here. You’ll likely get a dingy corner and an outdated room to make up for the loss.

The breakfast was lousy, and I waited an hour for it. Wi-Fi access was limited too. Staff were slow, dismissive, and often unhelpful when I asked for even basic things. My concerns were ignored or answered with attitude instead of any real solution. For paying guests, the lack of courtesy and professionalism was hard to accept. Better service might have made the stay okay, but the way I was treated overshadowed everything. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless its customer service improves a lot.

The good parts were the clean rooms, great location, and great staff. But for the price, there are plenty of hotels with better value and the basics covered. There’s no proper fridge. The minibar fridge is full of drinks, and moving them to make room for your own triggers a charge. That feels sleazy. The TV didn’t work, and there’s no ironing board, which seems pretty cheap of the owners. The single thick curtain leaves you choosing between a dark room and having everyone see inside. Elevators are slow too. It feels like the owners know the location will draw guests, so they cut corners at our expense. Greed.
